SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are looking for a results-driven and analytical Value Stream Engineering Intern to join our team and support several key improvement initiatives across testing, inspection, and manufacturing processes. The intern will lead and support projects aimed at reducing cycle times, improving documentation, and enhancing process efficiency. This is a hands-on opportunity to work with cross-functional teams and contribute meaningful improvements to product quality and operational performance.

Qualified individuals will be working with a small team of other technical professionals. The candidate therefore must be a team player, be teachable and eager to learn, and must have a drive to succeed and grow professionally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct time studies on the three levels of the return material evaluation process to identify inefficiencies.

• Recommend and implement improvements to streamline the return material process and reduce cycle time.

• Review incoming inspection documentation and procedures to assess alignment with available resources.

• Identify high cost-of-quality parts and develop a plan to optimize incoming inspection processes.

• Validate existing gap analyses from Rapid Improvement Events (RIE) and execute plans to address identified gaps.

• Improve testing standard work, procedures, and supporting documentation.

• Collaborate with subject matter experts to document standard troubleshooting guides for balancing equipment.

• Perform testing and data collection to determine optimal parameters for product break-in processes.

• Analyze break-in data to reduce process time while maintaining result accuracy.

• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Currently in pursuit of a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.

• Familiarity with process mapping, time studies, and root cause analysis techniques is a plus.

• Experience with data collection and statistical analysis preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Minitab, Excel analysis tools, or other quality software is a bonus.

• Dependable, driven, teachable person with good work ethic

• Shop Environment:

• Lifting up to 50lbs.

• Wearing the required PPE 100% of the time.

• Indoor and outdoor work as necessary.
