Job Description

Viracon is a leader in architectural glass. We are the largest single site glass fabricator in U.S. and one of the largest in the world. We offer over a million customizable options for customers unique specifications in the architectural glass industry.

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team! In this position you will work with large scale, state of the art machines and manufacturing equipment. You will work hands on to create procedures and solve problems to maximize efficiency and put your stamp on some of the most elegant large-scale buildings across the world.

As part of the Engineering Department, you will:
•    Provide technical assistance to Production Management, Technical Services, other departments, and customers as required.
•    Maintain equipment and processes for maximum productivity, quality and safety.
•    Calibrate gauges and instruments.
•    Support capital projects that replace old equipment or deliver new capabilities and products.
•    Troubleshoot production problems to reduce breakage and downtime. Work with the maintenance staff to improve and repair equipment. Support computerized maintenance program.
•    Assist in the technical training of production and maintenance personnel in your primary area of responsibility.
•    Set up preventive maintenance for equipment.
•    Interface with other departments and personnel as necessary and perform other duties as may be required.
•    Establishi equipment Standard Operating Procedures.

Essential Job Duties:
•    Responsible for design, development, implementation and analysis of new processes or products.
•    Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform functions of the job.
•    Assists in planning and testing.
•    Conducts designed experiments and evaluates data.
•    Applies the use of continuous improvement methods and tools.
•    Maintains confidential and proprietary information in a professional manner.
•    Leads multi-site efforts with departments and personnel for consistency and standardization as necessary.
•    Keeps abreast of developments in materials, processes and equipment applicable to respective area.
•    Participate in Viracon’s Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team’s performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements.
•    Works under immediate supervision.
•    Reports to manager or supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or sciences strongly preferred with 0-4 years of field or related experience.
•    A motivated, self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
•    Problem solving and strong analytical skills a must.
•    Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the company.
•    Ability to design, carry-out, and document tests.
•    Training in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies desired, but not required.
•    Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
•    Regular attendance and good work ethic.
•    Ability to take supervision and get along well with others.
•    Safely perform essential job responsibilities.
•    Ability to read, write and understand English.
