Job Summary

The Field Application Engineer is responsible for providing direct support, technical expertise and engineering services including, design, fabrication, equipment selection, installation, management of construction and start-up of storage and handling systems for existing and potential customers. Work will include proprietary application technologies and delivery systems for Evonik products, participation in the development of the same, support of the distribution network, and support of some production plant processes. Product applications will include industrial applications for hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid, persulfates and other proxygene compounds. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Health/Safety/Environmental

  • Administer the implementation of programs, procedures, and measures to ensure work is in compliance with Evonik’s safety standards as well as OSHA, NIOSH and other safety and health regulatory agencies.

  • Responsible for conducting business and tasks in accordance with Evonik’s safety programs, including, the Responsible Care© Program as well as requirements directed by the Department Manager.

Customer Service

  • Provide customer training, oversight, and technical service including elements of occupational safety, process safety, use, application, storage, and handling.

  • Act as a technical liaison between Evonik and its customers, including service companies.

  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing team to provide technical sales support to customers, service companies, and end use customers including field work and technical sales calls.

  • Develop in-plant contacts with customers.

Technical

  • Provide routine technical support to internal and external customers for the Evonik product lines as well as troubleshooting assistance for microbial control and delivery systems and their interfaces to customer processes.

  • Develop proprietary delivery systems and coordinate design of such with external equipment/instrument vendors for each unique application of Evonik products.

  • Assist in the development of plant test methods and protocols for field application studies, including the direct participation in field trials with R&D and/or staff while providing the key interface between existing processes and desired applications.

  • Coordinate application tests, demonstrations, and implementation of final application systems in support of Evonik’s products, including customer specific studies and internal and external testing to support EPA, FDA, or other registrations as required.

  • Provide Project Management from conception through product launch, including, equipment interfaces with OEM’s with each site’s needs.

  • Support the AO – Technical Services department in day-to-day oversight and guidance.

Administrative

  • Perform routine clerical duties such as trip reports, time sheets, expense reports, and processing and purchasing requisitions as needed for projects.

  • Conduct cost tracking, documentation, and manage scheduling of projects and installations, and to conduct market development estimates in order to ensure that projects remain on budget and are profitable.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field

  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of engineering experience preferred

  • Experience with field engineering required (construction management, commissioning, startup)

  • Experience with process piping design preferred

  • Process engineering skills including flow calculations, process & instrumentation diagrams

  • Able to perform basic control system troubleshooting, collaborate with control systems engineers

  • Understanding of project management, cost engineering, and process safety techniques

  • Familiar with chemistry/chemical engineering, able to work with chemistry R&D group for process design and process equipment selection

  • Understanding of material compatibility/corrosion impacts

  • Proven track record of building and managing strong customer relationships

  • Willingness to travel up to 40 - 50% during peak periods

Summary Compensation & Benefits: 

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. (Specific rate to be determined, but not limited to, geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). 

  

Pay Range: $81400-$135,700 per year (salary to be determined by geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).
