What You’ll Do:
As an Energy Storage Development Manager, you'll lead project development activities to advance Northland's energy storage portfolio and strategy across Canada, United States and Europe. This is a great opportunity to work in a growing industry across projects in various stages of development.
The position will require regular travel to project sites as well as various project related meetings and industry conferences.
This role will be based in Toronto.
Key Responsibilities

Lead various energy storage growth initiatives with guidance from senior development group team members.

Support the development team in preparing and updating the Energy Storage development strategy.

Support, empower and coordinate use of internal subject matter experts in engineering, procurement, construction, legal, financial valuations, project finance, etc.

Manage third-party advisors and consultants.

Lead the broader team through the process for submissions of RFQs, RFPs and auctions for project offtake opportunities.

Create and track project development plans and budgets for development projects and manage project progress towards task deadlines while identifying critical path challenges, project resource constraints and requirements.

Work with the Project Management Office on creating a project development plan and a stage gate model.

Gather relevant information to identify risks on projects and subsequently prepare and propose mitigation measures to resolve.

Monitor and manage key policy developments that impact projects, involvement with trade associations.

Support energy storage acquisition opportunities.

Lead through Northland’s internal approval process, including preparation of investment committee presentations and review of financial models.

A strong communicator: You have exceptional oral and written communication skills and are able to convey your message in a clear and concise manner.
Qualifications and Experience

Completed University bachelor’s degree.

Relevant graduate-level training, such as law, engineering, MBA or other master’s degree is preferred.

3-5 years of experience in the energy industry. Energy storage experience is preferred.

Strong understanding of the power generation industry and wholesale power markets

Ability to lead a project team to achieve project objectives and key milestones

Northland Power is an independent power producer founded in 1987, and publicly traded since 1997.
