Role Summary
The Accounting Manager's primary responsibility is helping to ensure the Company's revenue recognition to be in compliance with US GAAP and Company policies. It is both advisory and operational in nature. The advisory role helps business partners make informed business decisions while maintaining accounting compliance. The operational role ensures accounting processes comply with policies and function in an effective and efficient manner while working with local partners to complete business transactions with customers. Lastly, the Accounting Manager is responsible for building and maintaining a high performing team in our Lisbon office.
Role Responsibilities

  • Participates in accounting close activities, including:
    • partnering with other teams (legal, sales, etc.) to interpret, research, discuss, and / or process deal reviews
    • complete contract accounting of executed customer contracts
    • preparation / review of journal entries
    • preparation / review of reconciliations and related financial analysis for management and external reporting
  • Develop and streamline processes using system automation and tools to maximize efficiency and accuracy of revenue accounting systems and processes
  • Takes a clean sheet of paper approach when revisiting operational processes and continually works to consolidate and streamline using automation and tools to maximize efficiency and accuracy
  • Stay current on the latest financial accounting and reporting developments and IFRS reporting requirements, as applicable.
  • Effectively interacts with peers to learn-teach-lean and share knowledge
  • Mentors and supports junior members of the team and provides feedback
  • Communicates any problems to senior management timely
  • Participates in Company-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects that directly impact or relate to the revenue accounting area
  • Present findings and solutions to the management team, while considering global impacts and subsequent guidance to influence other regions where appropriate to adopt a consistent process and policy
  • Establish and track Key Performance Indicator's (KPI's)
  • Prepares schedules in support of the external audit process
  • Coordinates with the auditors on accounting issues and audit related queries
  • Reviews and maintains controls as the business environment changes as a result of process, system and policy enhancements. Includes risk assessment and review of risk areas


Role Requirements (Must-Have Skills)
Must-Have Skills

  • Master's degree in Accounting, or a related field, or advanced experience
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in the accounting roles
  • Strong understanding of revenue accounting rules under ASC 606
  • Experience working with revenue related systems such as billing systems, ERP, and revenue recognition tool / subledger
  • Revenue accounting for SaaS revenue recognition and understanding of multi-element arrangements
  • Ability to work effectively with various departments, particularly Sales
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Flexibility to work under time constraints and deadlines
  • Must be meticulous, detail oriented, and organized
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, yet cooperatively and constructively, in a team environment
  • Highly proficient in advanced MS Excel
