The eLearning Specialist Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing online learning programs and materials tailored to the pharmaceutical industry. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and relevance, utilizing multimedia tools to create engaging learning experiences, and managing performance of online learning inside of the learning management systems (LMS).

Main Responsibilities:

  • Creation of eLearning/Digital Content (60%): Perform needs analysis with business area, collaborate with subject matter expert to gather content and ensure accuracy. Perform quality checks/testing in validation environment prior to uploading and launching content to the LMS.

  • Evaluation (10%): Assess the effectiveness of eLearning programs through feedback and analytics, making necessary improvements.

  • Technical Support (15%): Provide technical support to users experiencing difficulties with eLearning resources.

  • Continuous Improvement (15%): Stay updated with the latest eLearning technology and trends to continuously improve learning solutions. Identify opportunities to leverage digital training to reduce training time and enhance the shop floor training experience.

  • Works within the policies, procedures and regulations as required by the Company and under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

CONTEXT OF THE JOB/MAJOR CHALLENGES

  • Intensive visual concentration (computer work) < 25%

  • Travel: limited domestic and global

  • Ineffective/inefficient training may lead to non-compliance with Regulatory requirements (resulting in e.g. FDA Warning Letters, HPFBI Non-compliance rating)

  • Non-compliant product, resulting in potential product loss

  • Lack of ROI (Time, money, and effectiveness)

  • Basic adult immunization is required

DIMENSIONS/SCOPE

  • Design and Develop: Create and maintain quality e-learning courses and instructional materials, including tutorials, interactive eLearning, demonstrations, and videos.

  • SCORM Compliance: Implement, upgrade, and maintain SCORM-compliant eLearning courses.

  • Global Training Support: Assist with global training initiatives at the site level, collaborating with Senior Management on implementation strategies.

  • Course Design: Incorporate knowledge checks, application exercises, quizzes, and tests to assess learning.

  • Feedback Mechanism: Implement learner feedback and surveys to measure eLearning effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

  • Stay Updated: Keep current with eLearning best practices, tools, and technologies.

  • Compliance: Ensure all training programs and materials comply with company policies and procedures.

  • Key Decisions: Determine content, training duration, and assess training effectiveness.

About You

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

  • Education: University/College degree or professional equivalent

  • Experience: 2+ experience in designing and developing eLearning content, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Skills: Proficiency in eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia Studio), familiarity with LMS and SCORM standards, strong understanding of adult learning principles, and excellent project management skills.

  • Attributes: Creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about leveraging technology to enhance education and training.

Key Competencies:

  • Skills: Strong facilitation, problem-solving, innovation, multi-tasking, and IT/technical abilities.

  • Expertise: Deep knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.

  • Aptitude: Capable of learning requirements development, business analysis, software development, and testing best practices, and translating this knowledge into eLearning courseware.

  • Creativity: Proven creative and artistic skills in courseware development, with excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication abilities.

  • Planning: Excellent at scoping, time estimation, and work planning, with a detail-oriented and quality-focused work style.

  • Adaptability: Experienced in managing changing priorities and working independently or in teams to meet deadlines while maintaining quality.

  • Growth Potential: Ability to develop into a vILT and ILT trainer, mentor, and consultant on requirements development.

  • Portfolio: Candidates should be prepared to showcase examples of previous eLearning courseware developed.
