Position Summary
The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting all company safety operations concerning the emergency, safety, and environmental compliance programs. The EHS Specialist will carry out routine inspections to determine if all the safety measures have been implemented and operating effectively, providing guidance to company personnel to ensure compliance.
Job Responsibilities

Assist in managing site safety programs to protect employees and the company against harm and maintain safe working conditions.

Schedules, monitors and conducts training of employees on safety subjects, policies, procedures, and regulations.

Verifies site compliance with regulatory agencies, federal, state, and local health and safety regulations and ensures all necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.

Participates in site client, board certification, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.

Effectively assists in developing and implementing programs, policies, standards, and procedures to reduce the frequency and severity of loss in the areas of workers’ compensation, general liability, and property.

Schedules and attends safety committee meetings.

Tours the facility and communicates with workers to identify safety risks and concerns.

Provide technical guidance and support coordination regarding various safety issues.

Performs other job duties as required by safety management to directly assist with the operation and success of the company
Required Qualifications
-
High School diploma or equivalent experience.

Knowledge of general safety related subjects such as Chemical Hygiene, Hazardous Materials Communications (MSDS, Labeling, etc.) Bloodborne Pathogens, or Injury Reporting.

Communication – Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

Teamwork – Commitment to the successful achievement of team and organizational goals through a desire to participate with and help other members of the team.

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and general working knowledge of Internet for business use.

Drive outcomes based on persistence and passion for excellence.

Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information with tact and diplomacy.

Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.

Able to maintain timelines of delivery, quality of results, and maintain a calm demeanor in high pressure situations.

Preferred Qualifications
-
One (1) year laboratory or similar experience, preferably in the healthcare environment.

Two (2) years safety compliance expertise including hazard communications, hazardous waste, Bloodborne pathogens, and chemical hygiene.

Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations and prevention techniques

Experience conducting safety inspections of buildings and equipment
Physical Demands

Will work at a computer, perform walking inspections and tours of building interiors and exteriors.

Must possess ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.

Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion.

Crouching and bending
-
Capable of lifting 30 lbs.
Training

Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control, Chemical Hygiene, Hazard Communications, Hazardous Waste Management, and OSHA Injury & Illness Reporting Requirements.

This position requires local travel between Arizona sites and some evenings, weekends and holidays.
