The EHS Specialist II for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for driving significant change within the organisation by ensuring rigorous compliance with environmental and Occupational safety regulations, thereby minimizing legal risks and enhancing operational efficiency.
This position is part of the Environmental Health and Safety Department located just outside Tulla in Lismeehan, O'Callaghan's Mills, Co. Clare and will be based on-site working alongside the EHS Team. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.
You will be a part of the EHS Team and report to the EHS Manager responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive EHS policies and programs that align with the company's strategic goals and regulatory requirements. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Manage EPA Reporting and Wastewater Treatment Compliance: Oversee the reporting requirements for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ensuring timely and accurate submission, and compliance reports. Utilize technical knowledge of wastewater treatment plants to ensure all operations meet regulatory standards and maintain optimal performance.

Conduct Comprehensive Internal Audits: Perform thorough EHS audits, identify areas for improvement, and drive teams to implement actionable plans to address non-compliance issues.

Investigate and Report Incidents: Lead investigations of EHS incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes, develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and maintain accurate records and documentation of incidents and corrective actions.
The essential requirements of the job include:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or a related field and minimum of 2 years of experience in EHS roles, with a strong focus on internal audits, risk assessments, and chemical safety.

Knowledge of EPA regulations and experience managing EPA licenses and WWTP

Strong understanding of the Chemicals Act and related regulations.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 Certification: Experience with implementing and maintaining environmental and occupational health and safety management system

Waste Water Treatment Plant experience - Operation, Maintenance, Water Sampling
