Gowan Milling Blytheville is looking for an EHS Coordinator. This position reports into the EHS manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the facility adheres to all environmental and safety regulations.
  • Conduct safety inspections and hazard assessments and investigate any incidents.
  • Lead training sessions on a variety of safety topics, from general safety practices to specialized areas like forklift certification and respirator fit testing.
  • Assist with managing waste inventories, preparing loads for logistics, and auditing production areas for compliance.
  • Perform safety audits and inspections across the site.
  • Support adherence to EHS programs and policies on the production floor.
  • Ensure all contractors adhere to EHS requirements by clearly communicating expectations and helping facilitate the necessary actions to meet safety standards.
  • Keep safety and environmental documentation up to date.
  • Attend weekly safety and/or monthly safety committee meetings.
  • Help with new production campaigns to ensure all safety and environmental procedures are in place.
  • Work with the EHS Manager on initiatives to improve our overall safety and environmental performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of environmental and safety regulations, with a willingness to learn more.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to manage tasks, work independently, and make decisions related to safety and environmental issues.
  • Comfortable using PPE, including respirators and Tyvek suits.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks.

Physical Qualifications:

  • Flexibility to work split or rotating shifts as required.
  • Ability to stand, operate forklifts, and navigate stairs for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, pulling, and pushing required.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions year-round.
