Job Description
The EHS Advisor will provide comprehensive safety leadership and support for Apex Clean Energy’s operating assets including wind farms, solar installations, and battery storage facilities. This role ensures workplace safety compliance, assists in the development of safety programs, protocols and procedures, and builds a strong safety culture across multiple project sites.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participate in safety related discussions including (but not limited to): Daily Plan of the Day (POD) Meeting, Safety Committee Meetings, Staff Meetings (as necessary), Tailgate Meetings (when on-site), Client/Owner Monthly Meetings
- Conduct safety audits/inspections across wind, solar, and battery storage sites to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and industry standards, ensure site operations maintain required safety documentation and records, participate in regulatory inspections and audits (as warranted), stay current with evolving renewable energy safety standards
- Provide oversight and guidance for contractor safety programs and prequalification processes for contract workers on Apex Clean Energy owned and operated sites.
- Participate in job hazard analyses for high-risk activities including working at heights, electrical work, and confined space entry as necessary.
- Advise Facility Managers regarding the interpretation of applicable safety regulations as they pertain to the projects and their operations.
- Advise and support operation sites on environmental reporting and programs like waste management, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of site safety programs, policies and procedures, and safe work practices as they pertain to the operations.
- Participate/Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis process for incidents, along with providing recommendations and appropriate corrective actions for prevention of future events.
- Gather, Review, Present monthly safety metrics including incidents, safety observations, with Asset Management Team, looking for trends and creating proactive measures to prevent future events
- Perform any other job-related duties/functions requested by Director of Health & Safety and/or Director of Operations.
Qualifications
To succeed as an EHS Advisor at Apex Clean Energy, you’ll meet many of the following criteria:
- B.S. in Occupational Safety, Engineering or related field and/or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of safety experience, with at least 2 years in renewable energy
- OHST, CHST, or comparable certification (or plan to obtain certification)
- OSHA 30/510 certification (or plan to obtain certification)
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and NFPA 70E
- Experience with fall protection systems and rescue planning
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote sites
- First Aid/CPR certification (can be obtained)
- Tower Rescue certification (can be obtained)
- Experience with wind turbine safety systems
- Knowledge of battery storage safety protocols
- Solar installation safety experience
- Incident investigation experience
- Willing to travel 50%
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb wind turbines (300+ feet)
- Capable of wearing the required PPE (including fall protection)
- Work in various weather conditions
- Sit/Stand/walk for extended periods

Work Environment:
Works in both an indoor office environment and an outdoor environment, occasionally at night which may be subject to inclement weather. Extended hours may be required to complete scheduled repairs.
