What you’ll do
In this critical role on AlixPartners’ Legal, Compliance, and Risk team, the individual will be responsible for performing day-to-day risk management activities, primarily involving the research and identification of potential conflict issues relating to prospective firm engagements. The individual will interact with the internal stakeholders within the firm globally.
The Engagement Conflicts Professional will be reporting to a Managing Counsel within the Legal, Compliance, and Risk team. and located in Southfield, MI. Paid relocation is not available for this position.
MUST BE CURRENTLY AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN THE UNITED STATES. NO VISA OR IMMIGRATION SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE, NOW OR IN THE FUTURE. (e.g., H-1B, STEM OPT, TN, etc.)
- Perform conflict-of-interest searches by identifying and validating lead information, determining appropriate search criteria, and searching the firm database
- Analyze search results and determine information to be included in conflict result communications
- Produce, summarize, and publish conflict search results
- Assist in the management and maintenance of the conflicts database
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures that address conflicts
- Promote high standards of conduct and ethics, as well as good judgment, independence, and discretion
- Develop strong relationships with the Legal, Compliance, and Risk team, client-facing personnel, and other key stakeholders of the firm

What you’ll need
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal setting preferred
- High attention to detail and ability to meet critical deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to interact and communicate with personnel at various levels within the firm, both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced, consistently changing environment where there are multiple projects, in addition to responding to urgent requests
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to problem solve and prioritize tasks
- Ability to handle confidential, sensitive information
- Willingness to learn new systems and techniques
- Core working hours are generally 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday; willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise.
- Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.
