The Supply Chain environment is dynamic and fast-paced, and the network is expanding rapidly. Medtronic is evolving our Supply Chain as a critical hub of our growth strategy. We are looking for a strong Engineer who can support the scaling of new and existing automation systems across our global distribution centers. We need a determined individual who can develop a technology strategy and roadmap for automation solutions across regions for various service offerings, DC’s and Manufacturing Sites, while working closely with cross-functional teams to implement these solutions. This role can be based remotely

  • Design and implement differentiating automation solutions and system software to create scalable and flexible operations within all lines of business. Our warehouse automation systems will incorporate the latest mechanical, electrical, robotic and software technologies.
  • Conduct studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow by analyzing production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules
  • Recommend methods and work with our OPEX (Operational Excellence) teams for maximizing the utilization of production facilities and personnel by restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchasing equipment in adherence with governmental, health, safety, and other regulations
  • Provide best-in-class engineering design of distribution centers, operating processes, and equipment types
  • Facilitate solutions to complex problems with the team, which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation.  Drive change within the automation team and share those learning across other teams (and functions). 
  • Define project scope including both technical and business requirements; budgets, volumes, technical reliability, and personnel capabilities needed to complete complex automated warehousing. Develop and implement project activities plans and timelines, coordinate subcontractors, facility management and field service personnel, and resolve problems in area of logistics to ensure meeting of contractual commitments.
  • Prepare and report out regular project updates to Sr Level Management

Must Haves

Bachelor’s Degree and 15+ years of Logistics or Supply Chain Engineering experience OR advanced degree and 13+ years of experience

Nice to Have

  • Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse design, DC Automation, material handling equipment and pick methodology, work measurement, labor management, slotting, and warehouse value-added services (i.e., kitting and labeling)
  • Excellent analytical/problem-solving capabilities and presentation skills required.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$186,400.00 - $279,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
