Purpose:

Reporting to the VP Valuation, this position is responsible for performing and guiding actuarial modeling and analysis with respect to financial reporting.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the quarterly US GAAP financial close for business reported out of Bermuda
  • Lead analysis and explanation of results
  • Develop a framework to assess international business across multiple currencies
  • Build, maintain, and document detailed actuarial models
  • Develop, document, execute, and review modeling and process controls
  • Interface with other Actuarial functions and provide new business support as required
  • Maintain and document actuarial assumptions and standards
  • Analyze and critique client company assumptions and methodologies
  • Interface with internal and external auditors to answer inquiries and facilitate the audit process
  • Modernize and improve the financial reporting process to maximize accuracy and efficiency
  • Validate and test new reporting models and results
  • Lead team of Actuarial Students providing guidance, coaching, and performance management


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or any quantitative field
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (or equivalent organization) required; Fellow of Society of Actuaries preferred
  • 7+ years’ technical experience with 5+ years’ experience working in the life insurance industry, preferably in annuities within a U.S. GAAP framework
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and any programming language
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage several projects
  • Demonstrated desire to take initiative and run with projects
  • Comfortable working in a flat structured organization and interacting with senior management
  • Ability to view “big picture”, understand broad corporate impacts, and focus on company objectives
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills
