Education

  • Master’s degree required. 

Experience and Training

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible, full-time experience in student affairs and/or higher education. 
  • Student conduct experience, including investigation of sexual misconduct complaints.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to privacy
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws
  • Ability to converse diplomatically with students, faculty, staff, and parents regarding sensitive matters involving investigations
  • Knowledge of and ability to use crisis intervention skills when on call
  • Knowledge of and ability to respond to students and parents regarding Guide to Campus Life policies and standards and Staff/Faculty Handbook

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees the investigation and resolution of all reports of Sexual Misconduct involving all University community members; ability to be prompt, impartial, equitable, and thorough.
  • Oversees the investigation and resolution of all reports of disability discrimination involving students; ability to be prompt, impartial, equitable, and thorough.
  • Conducts annual reports and identifies and addresses any patterns or systemic problems of Sexual Misconduct within the University community, including climate surveys.
  • Monitors compliance with all procedures, requirements, and time frames outlined in the Sexual Misconduct and 504 Policy.  A collaborative relationship with the Vice President for Student Life and Senior Director of Community Standards on procedures for hearings and or/appeals.
  • Coordinate and investigate in collaboration with the Assistant VP of Human Resources and/or designee regarding staff and faculty complaints that pertain to student Sexual Misconduct claims. 
  • Provides Title IX training to all student and faculty justices and the University’s Executive Council annually; additionally, provides training to all residence life personnel, students, and professional staff.  Additionally, it assures training compliance for Deputy Coordinators and Investigators as well.
  • Provides counseling for students, particularly residential students, related to sexual conduct issues; provides referrals to appropriate university departments, such as Counseling, Student Health, Academic Services, Academic Advisors, and the Vice President for Student Life.
  • Creates and annually edits the "Guide to Campus Life," University Bulletin, Staff and Faculty handbook, and other communication pertaining to the University's sexual misconduct and 504 policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance and training for Deputy Title IX Coordinators and Student Life Staff on-call.   
  • Implementation of educational programming during Welcome Week for all incoming first-year students and upperclassmen. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President for Business Affairs.
  • Coordinate assessment of learning outcomes, program goals, and objectives

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Complete discretion to determine discipline sanctions (including dismissal from the University) for non-academic violations of the HPU Conduct Code.
