About Us

At SimplePractice, our team is dedicated to improving the health and wellness industry by building a suite of innovative solutions for practitioners and their clients. Our product supports practitioners on their clinical journey to becoming licensed, helps them manage their business and practice once they’re up and running, and enables new clients to discover and interact with practitioners. Taking a practitioner-first approach in everything we do makes it possible for health and wellness practitioners to devote more time to their clients while they use SimplePractice to start, grow, and maintain a successful private practice.

The Role

We’re seeking a Director of Talent Development to build a dynamic, scalable learning and talent management function from the ground up. This role is perfect for an experienced, hands-on leader ready to build our talent development strategy from scratch and deliver high-impact programs in a fast-growing, remote-first environment.

As a team of one to start, you will design, build, and deliver learning and development programs at scale for employees across the company, including a growing number of employees in Latin America. You will also play a key role in developing and implementing talent management practices in partnership with other People & Culture leaders and stakeholders across the business, including performance management, organizational health and effectiveness, and succession planning.

You’ll be responsible for assessing the needs of the business and prioritizing initiatives ranging from leader and manager development, to self-service elearning offerings for all employees, to advising and supporting function-specific training for high-potential entry level new hires, to reviewing and improving performance and talent management practices. You’ll collaborate with leaders across the business to ensure talent development is engaging, effective, and aligned with SimplePractice’s culture.

In addition to learning and talent programs, you’ll also maintain, manage, and recommend improvements to related systems and infrastructure, leveraging AI technology, including LMS, learning and talent assessment, and learning and talent analytics and reporting. Over time, you’ll build and expand the function in line with business needs, with the potential to hire and manage additional team members.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, builds strong relationships, and isn’t afraid to get into the details and execute. You’ll influence at all levels of leadership while also rolling up your sleeves to manage the details, thriving in fast-paced, evolving environments. A coaching mindset, formal learning methodology expertise, and experience implementing training on both soft skills and technical skills will set you up for success.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a talent development strategy that aligns with company goals and fosters a culture of learning, inclusion, performance, and growth
  • Partner with subject matter experts to build scalable training programs for multiple functional areas, including training on highly technical skills
  • Create and deliver leadership development programs for leaders at all levels, from front-line managers to mid-level and senior leaders
  • Design, roll out, and oversee inclusive and equitable talent management practices, including performance management, organizational health and effectiveness, and succession planning
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across the organization, influencing and driving engagement in learning and talent management initiatives
  • Manage eLearning content creation and the Learning Management System (LMS), as well as other learning and talent management systems and infrastructure
  • Source and manage vendor relationships, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective learning and talent management solutions
  • Measure the effectiveness of learning and talent management initiatives and continuously improve based on data and feedback
  • Stay current on learning and talent management trends, tools, and technologies, bringing innovative approaches to talent development at SimplePractice

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in Learning & Development and/or related fields, with a strong background in building programs from the ground up
  • Strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills, able to build relationships at all levels and navigate complex organizational dynamics and a high-growth, fast-paced business environment
  • Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution, including day-to-day administrative tasks as well as managing budgets, sourcing vendors, and negotiating contracts
  • Expertise in both soft skills and technical training, and a demonstrated ability to partner effectively with technical teams to deliver specialized training
  • Hands-on experience in program design and facilitation, including for remote, hybrid, and international audiences, with formal training in learning methodologies preferred
  • Experience with talent management frameworks and programs, including performance management, engagement surveys, organizational health and effectiveness, and succession planning
  • Coaching mindset and strong facilitation and public speaking skills, able to engage and motivate diverse audiences effectively
  • Tech savvy and proficient in using and managing talent systems and infrastructure, leveraging AI, such as eLearning software, LMS management, and talent management tools
