This role is responsible for planning, directing and implementing strategic long-range goals within the Meijer supply chain organization. Defines, develops and implements the supply chain network strategy to optimize the investment in physical and inventory assets.
Position follows hybrid schedule: Monday-Wednesday in office, Thursday-Friday remote.
What You'll be Doing:
- Defines and leads the global supply chain network strategy including Meijer Supply Chain, Fresh Thyme Network and the establishment and expansion on the Micro-fulfillment network.

Develops opportunities for new uses in the supply chain network by determining where assets should be eliminated and identifying where new assets are needed to drive cost efficiencies. Assets include Meijer/Fresh Thyme owned, international third party and domestic third party.

Develops, defines and leads the implementation of supply chain strategies that improve our ability to be profitable, eliminating waste and reducing overall operational costs.

Leads large scale, cross functional projects and initiatives that drive supply chain efficiencies through design and delivery of newly developed processes.

Analyses and presents recommendations to Supply Chain Senior Leadership team where additional assets need to be located and where assets are not providing value based on standardized cost structures.

Establish sourcing strategies based on economics, environmental, geographical, socio-political factors.

Work with internal and external partners to drive alignment between Meijer overall business strategy and Meijer Supply Chain through collaboration with various business functions.

Negotiates with service providers in collaboration with pertinent business areas to implement the supply chain strategy.

Oversees the optimization of the Meijer transportation network by redesigning store delivery frequency, utilizing LlamaSoft tools to minimize mileage and balancing service levels with cost across the network.

Designs and leads recommendations for the Micro-fulfillment network, including analytics and the execution of assortment in automation to minimize the cost of fulfillment.

Business partner and hands-on executive role with a strategic view and tactical responsibility for all supply chain projects.

Builds supply chain network identifying and executing optimal flow path strategies across all Meijer, Fresh Thyme and Micro Fulfillment functions
What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent retail experience.
- Master of Business Administration degree preferred.
- Combined ten or more years of experience in supply chain management, inventory, supply chain operations or vendor performance management.
- Previous leadership experience required.
- Previous global supply chain experience.
- In-depth knowledge of supply chain from vendor to guest.
- Knowledge of supply chain best practices, inside the retail industry segment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of risk mitigation planning.
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into a practical and actionable business plan.
- Intuitive ability to recognize innovative opportunities that could be applied to Meijer.
- In depth knowledge of network providers.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp global trends and understand implications of these trends.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Knowledgeable of LEAN Six Sigma principles and standard project management processes.
- Ability to translate service requirements and risk mitigation throughout the process.
- Demonstrated leadership and expertise that inspires confidence in teams.
- Ability to manage team members to business goals.
- Office computer skills; able to learn company systems and tools, preference for Microsoft application experience.
