Cox First Media , a dynamic and innovative news and digital advertising leader, seeks an experienced, results-driven Director of Sales to spearhead our growth in Dayton, Ohio.
As our Director of Sales, you will be at the forefront of helping our diverse set of local, regional, and national clients achieve their business goals. You will coach, inspire, and empower a talented team of high-performing sales professionals, driving revenue growth across our diverse market-leading news and digital services portfolio. You will use your analytical and problem-solving abilities combined with your passion for driving innovation to deliver increased revenues and capture market share. This position reports to the President and Publisher of Cox First Media and is a senior leadership team member.
What You'll Do:
Revenue Growth and Innovation: You will leverage your deep understanding of the digital advertising landscape to grow customer and product revenues by building compelling go-to-market plans supported by data analysis and active listening to customers and stakeholders to recognize opportunities in the marketplace and move initiatives from concept to reality. You will use your strong analytical problem-solving abilities and exceptional communication and people skills to garner internal buy-in within the organization and own all decisions required to activate local teams to execute with speed and precision. You are the change agent for business improvements, new initiatives, and processes that enable Cox First Media to develop and launch new products and business models to serve our customers better and separate us from competitors.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Identifies and actively pursues new business opportunities within existing clients and develops strategies to grow new business.
  • Manage, develop, and inspire team members to become their clients' best marketing partners by delivering strategic and creative excellence, introducing clients to innovative solutions, providing quality service, and executing marketing programs that further clients' marketing and business objectives.
  • Build and support our B2B sales brand with a cohesive and effective approach to sales presentations and pricing strategies, ensuring that clients value our audiences, media products, and services while they meet their business needs.
  • Responsible for creating accurate and insightful dashboards, analytics, and reporting to track KPI performance.
  • Be the Cox First Media ambassador to the business and advertising community by actively engaging in local, regional, and industry networking opportunities.

Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (Business, Advertising, Sales, or Marketing, etc.) and 10 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 8 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 5 years' experience in a related field; or 14 years' experience in a related field.
  • At least 5 years of successful B2B sales leadership experience overseeing high-performance teams for a media, digital marketing, advertising agency, or related business.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of driving a minimum of $10M+ in annual revenue through direct or advertising agency selling.
  • Expertise in driving go-to-market products and pricing strategies for audience-driven products to maximize client success and enterprise value.
  • Deep knowledge of digital technologies, including Google Analytics, ad tagging, SEM/SEO, social media, behavioral and contextual targeting, and content management.
  • Enthusiastic and driven to meet and exceed goals while embracing responsibility for outcomes and impact.
  • Self-starter mentality that possesses critical thinking capabilities, intellectual curiosity, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, fostering a healthy work environment of trust and long-term individual growth.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams, influence without authority, and be a successful, objective, and strategic thought partner.

USD 131,600.00 - 219,400.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $131,600.00 - $219,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
