Public Affairs Director position will be a generalist position mainly responsible for Public Affairs function but also supporting on ground communications & sustainability initiatives
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities:

  • Reports to Franchise PACS (Public Affairs, Communications, Sustainability & Strategic Partnerships) Senior Director and provides day to day support for public affairs, communication & sustainability related programs and initiatives within the Pakistan Franchise.
  • Works closely with Bottling PAC team for jointly developing and implementing Public Affairs, Communication & Sustainability strategies and key priorities.
  • Partners with Marketing function to ensure instinctive collaboration, ensuring PACS integration into Brand and Innovation strategy and processes. 
  • Collaborates with Operating Unit Communication & Operating Unit Sustainability leads and ensures cross-functional and system-wide alignment to optimize the use of resources and maximize the impact of communication & sustainability plans for Pakistan franchise.
  • Identifies and monitors regional and local divergent stakeholders to understand their priorities and develop a strategic plan for engagement. Engages with convergent stakeholders to strengthen our impact and deliver value to the business.
  • Monitors regional NGO’s, activists, and political developments to identify trends with implications to the business. Engages with and builds coalitions with regional and local government and non-government stakeholders to advocate for or against and advance policies and programming that support our business goals in collaboration with our Public Policy, Sustainability and Strategic Communication teams
  • Acts as a point of contact for Leadership members providing advice to identify, assess and manage risks and opportunities that may impact the business performance or Company reputation.
  • Evaluate and analyze complex issues/policies as well as the impact of policy development on the business.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to build awareness of policy issues that could impact The Coca-Cola Company.

Education Requirements:

  • A bachelor's or master's Degree from a recognized University
  • Specialized in Public Policy is preferred

Work Focus

  • Ability to analyze complex business and regulatory issues, manage divergent stakeholders and bring together multiple concepts across functions to define the long-term public affairs and sustainability strategy for the business.
  • To understand and analyze the tax impact on organization if any change made by the exchequer during annual budget process by the government.
  • Negotiating maximum tax benefits for the business and maintains cordial relationships with tax authorities and enhancement of corporate image as responsible taxpayer, this includes lobbying in Federal Board of Revenue and Ministry of Finance and Commerce to safeguard the business risks and minimizing cost of taxes for the company.
  • Understanding of Climate Changes laws & regulations and its impact to The Coca-Cola Company

Communication Focus

  • The role leads communication on a regular basis with key internal and/or external parties, and has the responsibility for sharing information, influencing and negotiating with key parties and stakeholders with both shared and opposing interests.
  • Fluent in English is a must

Experience

  • 8-10 years of public affairs in senior roles with responsibility for public affairs, stakeholder management, communication and sustainability.
  • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams and collaboration with Marketing teams.
  • Ability to navigate and understand the political, policy environment in Pakistan
  • Experience of working with internationally or in multicultural teams is advantageous
