Director of Product
Job Summary
The Director of Product is a pivotal, hands-on leadership role responsible for driving the success of Pinnacle's product portfolio by combining deep technical expertise, strategic vision, and strong leadership capabilities. This role requires an in-depth understanding of the math, engineering principles, and technical details behind the products. The Director of Product must also guide and mentor a team of Product Owners, Senior Business Analysts, and Business Analysts. As a working manager, they will actively contribute to product design, development, and execution, ensuring innovative, high-value solutions that align with business objectives and customer needs
Job Duties
- Product Leadership and Strategic Initiatives:
- Own the product roadmap for all products, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
- Tie software investment decisions to measurable customer value and returns for the business. Build pricing models and assist in go-to-market strategies to maximize product success.
- Represent the product roadmap to executive leadership, internal stakeholders, and customers to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Evaluate and implement product management best practices, tools, and processes across the organization.
- Hands-On Product Development:
- Collaborate with the team to design and prototype product features and validate them through rigorous testing and customer feedback.
- Partner with Product Owners to refine product backlogs, user stories, and acceptance criteria, ensuring technical feasibility.
- Act as the primary technical expert on all products, with deep knowledge of their engineering, math, and functional principles.
- Work directly with teams to develop and validate mathematical and engineering models integral to the products.
- Team Leadership:
- Hire, mentor, and lead a team of Product Owners and Business Analysts, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Actively participate in team problem-solving and decision-making to remove roadblocks and ensure project success.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with R&D, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales teams to align product development with business priorities and market needs.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, sales collateral, and educational materials to support internal and external stakeholders.
- Customer-Centric Focus:
- Gather feedback directly from customers to shape the product roadmap and prioritize features that address real-world problems.
- Ensure consistent delivery of value by validating that all products meet customer needs and maintain high-quality standards.

Required Qualifications/Skills/Competencies
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 7+ years as a Product Manager or Director in a SaaS or B2B environment.
- Proven track record in hands-on product development and technical problem-solving.
- Advanced knowledge of Agile/Scrum practices and product lifecycle management.
- Expertise in SQL and Python, with the ability to analyze complex datasets and develop scripts to support product innovation.
- Strong understanding of engineering and mathematical principles related to the product domain.
Preferred Qualifications/Software knowledge
- Experience in the energy sector or other industrial settings.
- Familiarity with advanced mathematical and statistical principles used in the product portfolio.
- Certified Scrum Master (PSM I) or Scrum Product Owner (PSPO I).
Equipment and Software Knowledge
- Azure DevOps, Power BI, and relevant analytics tools.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and modeling.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Engineering tools relevant to the product domain; regression analysis, graph theory, Bayesian statistics and machine learning
