Overview

The Director Product Management for the Payments Division, must possess a deep understanding of the payment ecosystem. This includes payment acceptance via POS terminals or online platforms, and the orchestration of payments through gateway/orchestration services encompassing eCommerce/web, in-store, unattended, and data security solutions (point-to-point encryption and tokenization).

In this role, you will manage the product lifecycle for both existing and new products offered globally, with a strong focus on supporting the North America and European regions. Your responsibilities range from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing innovative new solutions. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a blend of business acumen and technical expertise, a big-picture vision, and the drive to actualise that vision. A deep knowledge of payments is essential. Staying abreast of market trends and future directions is essential to ensure that TNS remains at the forefront of innovative payment solutions that address current market needs. You will engage with stakeholders to understand requirements, identify business opportunities, set timelines and budgets, and more. This role offers the opportunity to enable unattended and specialty retail commerce companies to deliver best-in-class payment solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Product Ownership: Oversee the product roadmap and all aspects of product management, maintenance, and enhancement of transaction processing services (encryption, tokenization, switch, and gateway).
  • Customer Representation: Build strong relationships with customers directly and through regional intermediaries, championing their needs and integrating their feedback into the product planning process.
  • Product Definition and Strategy: Define product requirements, business needs, positioning, pricing, and functionality for both existing and new services. Leverage regional proxies to gather local market intelligence and set regional priorities.
  • Payment Ecosystem Knowledge: Deep understanding of the payment ecosystem, including payment acceptance via POS terminals or online platforms and the orchestration of payments through gateway/orchestration services encompassing eCommerce/web, in-store,unattended, data security solutions (point
  • -to-point encryption and tokenization), and acquirer integrations.
  • Technical Knowledge: High-level understanding of APIs, Cloud, TCP, payments protocols (ISO8583, ISO20022, REST) and payments encryption desirable.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Foster collaboration across teams to execute the product roadmap. Effective communication and alignment across stakeholders are critical for success.
  • Development Coordination: Work closely with development teams to ensure transaction processing capabilities align with market and business requirements.
  • Sales and Operations Support: Provide necessary training, product sheets, value propositions, and marketing materials to Sales and Operations teams.
  • Market Analysis: Maintain a high level of expertise in competitor and industry-related payment products, pricing, practices, and trends.
  • Commercialization: Collaborate with sales, marketing, and product resources across regional markets to establish commercialization strategies, including pricing, positioning, and go-to-market plans.
  • Vendor and Partner Management: Serve as the primary contact for third-party vendors and partners, handling escalations, ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and notifications.
  • Agile Methodology: Have a comprehensive understanding of the product lifecycle and agile methodologies.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience with merchant payment applications, encryption, tokenization, payment gateway concepts, and authorization and settlement systems.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Working knowledge of PCI Compliance, P2PE solutions, EMV, PII data privacy, including GDPR, is a plus.
  • Payment Trends: Good understanding of mobile payments, contactless payments, and alternative payment methods.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Global Collaboration: Experience working collaboratively with geographically dispersed teams, including Sales, Development, Network, Engineering, Risk and Compliance, Security, and Operations.
  • Project Governance: Results-oriented with the ability to govern multiple projects with competing priorities across the portfolio.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel as required.

Qualifications

  • 5- 10 years of product management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in the consumer payment industry.
  • Working knowledge of payment orchestration platforms, gateways and acquirer integrations.
  • Experience with payment terminals/point-of-sale systems.
  • Understanding of a broad range of eCommerce solutions.
  • Proven ability to deliver products on a global scale.
  • Track record of innovation and creativity.
  • Strong understanding of Agile development processes, cloud computing, machine learning, and mobile applications is a plus.
  • Ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Act as a product advocate and regularly communicate product roadmaps and development schedules to relevant internal stakeholders.
  • for this role, we anticipate paying $180k - $220K. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form. Any compensation range provided for a role is an estimate determined by available market data. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the range provided considering each candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location. Education
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, or a related major is desired
