Department: Store Operations 

Location: Nova Scotia / Prince Edward Island 

Hybrid work: Remote and Field Work 

Type of employment:  Permanent, Full Time (40 hours) 

 

THE ROLE 

The role of the Operations Director is to coach and direct their team of District Managers in their operational and decision-making processes. They must ensure that store sales and profitability targets are met, while maintaining an operating cost that meets company standards. In addition, the Operations Director must maintain customer service that surpasses industry standards. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Human Resources: 

  • Coach, motivate, and lead the team of District Managers in the assigned region. 

  • Supervise the team of District Managers to ensure the successful completion of projects. 

  • Recommend the hiring of District Managers and approve the hiring of managers. 

  • Train and integrate new and existing District Managers. 

  • Manage labor relations. 

  • Intervene directly at the store level in special cases and make direct decisions. 

  • Analyze training needs at the operational level. 

 

Administration: 

  • Analyze financial statements to achieve the profitability required by the company and develop an action plan if necessary. 

  • Prepare annual budgets. 

  • Approve periodic budgets. 

  • Monitor budgets, identify corrective measures to be taken, and implement them (expense and revenue control). 

  • Ensure that company policies, procedures, and standards are applied (HR, marketing, operations, etc.); 

  • Approve operational policies and procedures in collaboration with other managers and in conjunction with the VP. 

  • Monitor quality of operations for all districts. 

  • Control customer service and maintain a high standard of excellence for our customers. 

 

Marketing and procurement: 

  • Monitor the application of and compliance with marketing standards (specials, displays, images, etc.). 

  • Oversee inventory management (inventory levels, merchandise rotation) for stores. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Education  

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration 

  • Equivalent experience/training may be considered. 

 

Experience:  

  • Minimum 10 years of retail experience, including a minimum of 5-7 years in a multi-site supervisory/management role. 

  • Experience in personnel management. 

 

Knowledge and skills:  

  • Leadership and communication skills; 

  • Ability to manage several files at the same time.
