What you will do:
As the Director of Marketing Strategy and Operations you will be responsible for driving function-wide priorities to improve go-to-market efforts that directly impact 23 billion in global revenue. You will be in a unique position to work across the Marketing function. You will report to the Vice President of Marketing Strategy and Operations and will have frequent interaction with the Chief Marketing Officer, Marketing Leadership Team, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), extended ELT, and Global Field Operations (GFO), Corporate functions, Regions and Global Products. The role will serve on the extended Marketing Leadership Team.
How you will do it:
Marketing strategy and transformation. Develop framework and progress tracking for transformation program of the global function that includes (but not limited to) campaign structure, squad structure, MarTech, Demand Gen, ROI measurement, training and development, brand amplification, campaign operations, and more. Lead one or more work threads as program director. Partner with MLT and business leaders to develop annual strategic goals for the global function linked to company’s Long Range Plan (LRP) and annual business priorities. Document Marketing strategy and maintain walkaround deck. Support monthly report-outs to Presidents’ Council and Executive Committee related to general updates on the function, operational (budget) reviews and ROI performance.
Global budget operations and planning. Partner with Office of CFO and CFOs in Regions and PBUs to functionalize the global marketing budgets into one single budget by confirming spend to “pocket swap”, creating project plan with phased approach, leading cross-functional team and driving alignment with business and Finance. Also work with Finance teams in Corporate, Regions and Global Products to clean up all “hidden factories” of spend that fall under Marketing in the Finance system (OneStream). Work with Procurement to identify and monitor Marketing category spend in Ariba (and beyond) and compare to Finance data. Work closely with Finance partners to monitor and report on monthly budget status for global function (both SIB and NSIB). Develop network of Finance partners across the organization. Establish and coordinate annual planning process with Marketing Leadership Team…drive alignment on investment priorities…define process cadence and deadlines … and collect budget detail aligned to Marketing spend categories and 10 campaigns.
Campaign standardization and operations. Own and lead transformation of marketing automation for North America, EMEA and LATAM – a major project to move JCI from existing go-to-market platform (Eloqua) to Salesforce Marketing Cloud. This will include developing program plan, managing governance structure and team members (indirectly) across the business and functions, managing relationship with external technology partner, and reporting out to various stakeholders. Also, create and implement campaign standards and process for 10 global campaigns to align all Regions and Global Products in Salesforce including stakeholder alignment on solution, system updates (e.g., Salesforce) and training/communication execution to operationalize processes and changes in day-to-day campaign execution. Support marketing automation tool evaluation and optimization. Drive implementation of standard campaign plans for each of 10 campaigns.
ROI marketing. Support development of standard reporting on global function KPIs around people (talent), process (operations), technology (MarTech and AI) and performance (funnel marketing). Coordinate inputs from multiple sources. Partner with Data team in GFO to expand marketing attribution reporting across global function. Identify scope of different audiences for report-outs and align respective material to each group.
Talent operations. Create career roadmap framework for Marketing sub-job families and work with MLT to develop and document role expectations and development plans for each grade level. Also partner with HR operations to align FTEs in Workday to Marketing job family (“Marketing”) and sub-job families…and to re-align non-marketing FTEs to other job families in the system. Create monthly reporting on FTEs with Finance on Marketing headcount and expense by business area.
Special projects and ad hoc Marketing support. Support various special projects and quick-help requests for CMO, MLT and VP Global Marketing Strategy and Operations. This can include…but is not limited to…EC/ELT strategic initiatives, LRP workstreams, program management on corporate-led campaign(s), event strategy, planning and execution, time-sensitive campaign support (e.g., copyrighting, social media/web, etc.), drafting leadership communications, and other priorities that may arise.
