Job Summary

We are seeking a Director of IT Infrastructure to support and enhance our enterprise infrastructure operations across a fast-growing retail company with 7,000+ users and 200+ locations nationwide. This role will be a key contributor in shaping the strategic direction, architecture, financial management, and operational excellence of our Citrix, SAP, Microsoft, Azure, Zscaler, and Okta ecosystems. The Director will collaborate closely with the VP of Infrastructure and Security to ensure high availability, security, and cost efficiency while continuously improving infrastructure performance and scalability.

We are open to the right person working primarily remote, but they need to be within a 1.5 hour radius of Manchester, CT Corporate HQ. Travel to the office will be on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities

Strategic Contribution & Roadmap Execution

  • Support the development and execution of a multi-year IT infrastructure strategy aligned with business growth objectives.

  • Contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives focused on cloud transformation, network security, and end-user computing.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure infrastructure capabilities support business expansion.

Infrastructure & Cloud Operations

  • Assist in overseeing the Azure-based cloud and on-prem hybrid environments, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

  • Support the implementation and optimization of Citrix VDI solutions for a seamless and secure end-user experience across distributed locations.

  • Work with teams to manage SAP infrastructure supporting business-critical ERP operations.

  • Contribute to Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and identity management strategies for enterprise-wide collaboration and security.

  • Support the administration and optimization of Zscaler and Okta for secure access and identity governance.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance, automation, and operational efficiencies.

  • Work to maintain 99.99%+ uptime across all critical infrastructure components by supporting proactive monitoring and incident response efforts.

Financial Management & Cost Optimization

  • Assist in developing and managing the IT infrastructure budget, ensuring alignment with business goals while optimizing costs.

  • Support license management for Microsoft, Citrix, and other enterprise platforms to ensure compliance and cost efficiency.

  • Partner with finance and procurement teams to support cost control measures, vendor negotiations, and ROI analysis for IT investments.

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, automation, and resource optimization within cloud and on-prem infrastructure.

Security, Compliance, & Resilience

  • Work closely with IT and Business Security teams to strengthen zero-trust architecture and cloud security postures.

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with industry regulations, including PCI DSS, SOX, and data privacy laws.

  • Support the development and enforcement of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to mitigate risks and ensure operational resilience.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a high-performing infrastructure team, including: Senior Systems Engineers, Systems Administrators, Offshore Administration teams, and IGA (Identity Governance & Administration) Engineers.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

  • Support team members' training and career development opportunities.

  • Align team structure and responsibilities to meet evolving business and technology needs.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Assist in managing relationships with technology partners and service providers, ensuring SLAs are met.

  • Support IT service excellence by leveraging ITIL frameworks and automation for efficient operations.

  • Act as a liaison between IT, business leadership, and external vendors to support alignment of technology initiatives with business goals.

Reporting & Performance Metrics

  • Assist in developing and maintaining KPIs and dashboards to track infrastructure health, uptime, cost efficiency, and performance.

  • Provide regular reports and insights to the VP of Infrastructure and Security, highlighting operational improvements, risks, and strategic initiatives.

  • Support executive-level presentations on IT infrastructure strategy, budgeting, and operational status.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 10+ years of IT infrastructure experience in a large-scale enterprise environment (7,000+ users, multi-location retail preferred).

  • Proven expertise in Citrix, SAP, Microsoft, Azure, Zscaler, and Okta technologies.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, virtualization, networking, and enterprise security.

  • Experience with IT budgeting, cost optimization, and license management strategies.

  • Ability to support large-scale IT transformations, including cloud migrations and security modernization.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience working with global teams and offshore resources.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at all organizational levels.

  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305)

  • Citrix Certified Expert – Virtualization (CCE-V)

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

  • AWS/Azure Security Certifications
