ABOUT THE ROLE

At CoStar Group, the Field Research team plays a critical role in capturing data that supports all CoStar Group products.  Whether capturing information around new tenants and their occupancy or identifying available space, our research brings significant value to the real estate industry.  This newly formed team is focused on capturing all current tenants, available listings and building characteristics in high priority commercial properties, ensuring that the most accurate and comprehensive market picture is presented to our clients.

We are seeking a dynamic Director of Field Research to lead and inspire a high-performing management team, overseeing the expansion field research across 10 key markets in the United States. Reporting to the Senior Director of Field Research, this leader will set the strategy, manage recruitment and onboarding, and drive exceptional performance. Your primary goal will be to ensure timely, high-quality property records, with reconciled availability and tenant data, are delivered across our products. This role demands a strong operational mindset, exceptional leadership, and a results-driven approach.

This role will be based out of our Richmond, VA office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a team of managers and individual contributors using a strong operational mindset to ensure individual metrics and quality standards are being met

  • Develop and recruit strong operational leadership to support the growing organization

  • Coach and develop managers and individual researchers to drive success

  • Lead on-boarding and training programs that focus on driving integration of new team members and the on-going development of researchers and managers

  • Ensure operational metrics are being met by teams and provide feedback to the team

  • Strategize to overcome operational challenges and provide on-going and real time feedback to managers and team members

  • Focus on continuous improvement of workflows and processes to drive optimization and innovation

  • Collaborate with Product, Research, and IT departments to deliver the most accurate data possible on behalf of our customers

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors required and Masters preferred

  • 5-8 years of experience leading large-scale dispersed teams (25+) against deadlines and deliverables

  • Not required for internal candidates. We prefer a Sr Manager who has experience managing at least 1 manager

  • Proven track record driving accountability with managers and leading in a metric driven organization

  • Demonstrated ability to operate in fast paced environment with high creative and delivery standards

  • Ability to collaborate across functional areas to deliver assignments

  • Capacity to travel to local markets for field visits

  • Passion and interest in real estate is a plus
