As a senior leader of our Camera Engineering org, you will be leading multiple teams working on streaming, storage, and their frontend backend systems, you will also work on the embedded systems that run on the camera. You will play a key role in the design, architecture, and development of systems that allow the company to serve more and more customers and devices globally. Your work will directly affect Verkada engineers, customers, and partners.
Responsibilities

  • Set up the long term vision for Verkada’s streaming and storage teams, and lead the teams to build scalable, reliable, and easily maintainable products.
  • Build a high caliber team through effective recruitment, mentoring, and leadership.
  • Drive team’s execution and keep a high bar for delivering high quality software.
  • Execute high impact and large scale projects with high quality.
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders to define and communicate goals, priorities, and processes.
  • Support the business requirements of multiple departments and prioritize work based on impact and cost.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in managing, leading, and inspiring a team of engineers, including hiring, retaining, and managing performance.
  • 2+ years of experience in managing engineering managers.
  • Founders mode is strongly preferred. Be a hands-on leader. You are expected to be heavily involved in engineering design, and drive strong execution.
  • Experience on streaming, embedded storage (SD card), and building relevant products is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in a software engineering role, with proven technical leadership skills and expertise in designing scalable, reliable, and efficient solutions - especially in building infrastructure that supports business running at scale.
  • Proficient in agile team software development and project management, delivering complex projects within defined timelines and resource constraints.
  • Adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, communicating effectively, and aligning efforts to achieve common goals.
  • Passionate about technology, staying updated with the latest industry trends and advancements.
  • Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and service mesh.
  • Experience with Airflow, and at least one of the data query and visualization tools.

Pay Disclosure

At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate’s skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting annual base salary may be above or below this range. This estimate is also just one component of Verkada’s total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
