Duties & Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership and Strategic Support to School-Level Teams

  • Supervises school leaders and school leadership teams to ensure high-quality implementation of school strategic plans, including curriculum, assessments, instructional practices, and school culture aligned to Athlos ideology
  • Collaborates with all members of the education service provider team to ensure coordinated planning and consistent implementation of strategic programs, projects and initiatives
  • Provides vision, leadership and support for the overall design, development, implementation, instructional delivery and evaluation of all instructional programs
  • Provides guidance to school leadership to design, coordinate, and manage professional development programs for all employees in support of the system-wide strategic plan
  • Collaborates with the school leadership team to foster a culture that encourages support of strategies and initiatives designed to impact organizational change and improvement
  • Develops annual, measurable goals for each school in partnership with school leadership
  • Support school leaders in the development of school-wide plans to ensure all schools achieve high academic performance
  • Assists school leaders with ensuring that school improvement plans are aligned to the needs of the schools and develops specific recommendations to improve achievement for students with identified performance risk
  • Ensures curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices are aligned to state standards and being implemented with fidelity
  • Provides leadership in the development and implementation of common assessments


Strategy and Innovation: oversees the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and ensures that innovative concepts have been utilized in the execution of these strategies. 

  • Identifies and addresses areas of success and inefficiencies in collaboration with the CEO
  • Supervises Healthy Body and Character Development coordinator
  • Manages the development, implementation, timeline and reporting elements of the system-wide strategic plan
  • Identifies and engages key partners in education to further Athlos Academies mission in collaboration with the CEO
  • Supports the CEO in leading meetings to achieve the goals set forth in the strategic plan
  • Keeps pace with advances in technological changes in all areas of education and takes advantage of those to increase Athlos’ effectiveness
  • Advocates the defined strategy to internal and external stakeholders
  • Attends conferences and network meetings, as approved by the CEO, to promote Athlos Academies and capture best practices to inform continuous improvement of Athlos programming and supports


Accountability, Research and Evidence: builds a collaborative vision for optimizing the sharing and use of knowledge, data, and best practices across the organization; develops systems to inform schools and the public about school performance and aid in ensuring that the charter network uses high-quality data to drive its decisions. 

  • Identifies and contributes research findings to improve product offerings and services to schools in collaboration with the CEO and chief of products
  • Supervises and facilitates program evaluation for both new and existing educational programs
  • Defines, gathers and presents compelling evidence of strategies, initiatives and/or frameworks that produce desired or unique outcomes in student, staff, school or community achievement
  • Researches the most current and effective curriculum and assessment tools to evaluate the progress of the education service provider’s priorities and ensure effective programs and best practices are utilized in the curriculum
  • Provides leadership in monitoring and reviewing assessment data and using findings to initiate corrective action for subgroups of students and/or campuses
  • Ensure curriculum and programming are being implemented with fidelity and in alignment with the education service providers’ strategic plan
  • Oversees development of short- and long-term performance metrics and an annual data collection, analysis and reporting calendar
  • Train school leaders and other school-level staff on how to analyze data, use data to identify gaps and challenges, and how to effectively present data reports to their staff
  • Creates and disseminates system-wide student achievement reports
  • Builds and executes system-wide research, development and program evaluation plans
  • Serves as subject matter expert with expertise on accountability systems in states where schools are located or plan to open and represents the network in external accountability discussions

Qualifications & Experience

  • 7+ years of K-12 teaching and administrative experience
  • Leadership experience in CMO/EMO or charter school network
  • Experience working with governing boards
  • Demonstration of meeting and obtaining goals
  • Experience growing academic leaders

Education & Background

  • Master’s degree or higher, educational administration preferred
  • Valid state licensure as appropriate, principal preferred
