Job Description
 

At Gilead, the Digital Strategy & Operations team plays a critical role in our digital transformation and is a strategic partner to our brands, focused on delivering a superior digital experience to our customers in the US.  

 

We are seeking a Director, Digital Operations – Web & Emerging Technology who will report to the Sr. Director of Digital Operations. This role will be responsible for the web design system, web tagging strategy and emerging technology areas including Digital Health & Gen AI.   This role will sit in Foster City, CA at our Headquarters.

 

The Director of Digital Operations – Web & Emerging Technology will lead the strategy, design, and maintenance of Gilead's commercial design system & oversee but not directly manage the offshore content production team. In addition, this role will oversee and ensure the web tagging process with Google Analytics is implemented effectively in partnership with IT. Lastly, the candidate will have the opportunity to build from the ground up a new operating model as it relates to Digital Health and Generative AI solutions centered on customer experience and marketing content generation. 

The ideal candidate should possess experience in managing a design system, web tagging, digital solutions platforms, and Gen AI expertise. The operations leader will ensure that the commercial websites leverage an efficient design system that adheres to world-class UI/UX practices and partner with IT and production teams to build out websites. They will work closely with IT on web development processes, best practices, and marketing partners for web design guidance. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design and maintain Gilead's commercial design system (AFFINITY) to enhance customer experience and drive engagement.  

  • Provide expert consultation and guidance to brand and agency teams on best practices while using AFFINITY and lead governance team for new components required 

  • Collaborate with the Digital Strategy team & Cross Functional capability leads to integrate new web technologies into the overall marketing strategy, leveraging digital expertise. 

  • Partner with both Ops teams and IT for the successful implementation of web and media tags to capture analytical insights using Google Marketing Platform. 

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Digital Analytics, Marketing Automation, IT, Brand) to ensure seamless execution of web, digital solutions and Gen AI projects 

  • Work closely with the Digital Solutions Product Manager to drive new digital solutions from design to implementation and ongoing operations (e.g., Telehealth).  

  • Lead the development of AI-driven marketing operations at Gilead, serving as the Gen AI subject matter expert and utilizing in-house tools across the customer journey.  

  • Direct offshore and production teams in web, Gen AI, and creative operations, leveraging your experience as an Operations leader.  

  • Manage a team of 3-5 contractors.  

 

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Ten Years’ Experience

OR

PhD and Eight Years’ Experience

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Proven expertise in web design systems, web development, and UI/UX best practices (e.g., Figma, Sketch).  

  • Knowledge of Google Marketing Platform Tools (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console) 

  • Deep understanding of Gen AI technology and its application within large-scale marketing organizations.  

  • Experience managing outsourced resources and collaborating with diverse cross-functional teams.  

  • Knowledge of US pharmaceutical marketing regulations, including FDA guidelines.  

  • Direct experience managing web platform campaigns through US biotech/pharma regulatory review is highly desirable.  

  • Strong communication and project management skills.  

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and effectively prioritize tasks.  

  • Experience ensuring website accessibility and compliance with relevant standards.  

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.  

  • A passion for driving digital innovation and introducing new emerging technology ideas.

The salary range for this position is: $226,185.00 - $292,710.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
