Role OverVIOOH

We are looking for a Director of Data Science & Optimisation to drive forward VIOOH’s optimisation & yield management strategy. The Optimisation Research Lead will report to the Chief Product Officer and work with the Product, Engineering and Commercial teams to define and execute the strategy for VIOOH’s next generation optimisation, forecasting and yield management capabilities.

What you'll be working on

  • Define and lead VIOOH’s optimisation & yield management strategy 
  • Lead the development of VIOOH’s next generation forecasting, optimisation & yield management models making use of internal capabilities and external systems as required by the strategy
  • Drive the optimisation & yield management partnership strategy with media owners and third parties
  • Work with the Data Science team to develop next generation forecasting capabilities (e.g. demand forecasting) and a suite of reporting products that give clients insight into the power of VIOOH’’s optimisation
  • Act as an internal and external subject-matter-expert and product evangelist for optimisation and forecasting
  • Document the forecasting and optimisation capabilities
  • Perform ad hoc analyses relating to the optimisation and forecasting models

What we want from you

  • At least 8 years’ experience in developing forecasting, optimisation and yield management solutions in the media and advertising industries
  • A strong background in mathematical optimisation with extensive experience of researching and developing algorithms for solving real-world problems
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing high performance mathematical optimisation solvers
  • Experience leading engineering teams and working in product-led SaaS companies
  • Technical: Deep understanding and experience with optimisation modelling systems (e.g. GAMS) and solvers (e.g. CPLEX, GUROBI etc.), scripting languages, SQL, analytical software (e.g. R, MATLAB etc.), front-end development, unix/linux, AWS etc.
  • Superb communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience designing and executing client case studies is appreciated
  • A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
  • Strong team spirit with eagerness to learn and help
  • Logical thinker, with a real passion for solving customer challenges
  • Collaborative and able to take a lead role communicating effectively with the technical team and sales and marketing
  • Consulting and/or client-facing experience is appreciated
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in applied mathematics or a related field
