Overview
As the Data Engineering Director, you will be responsible for driving the technical vision, strategy, and delivery of our Enterprise Data Platform, instrumental in driving innovation, ensuring data quality & accessibility, and fostering collaboration across teams to harness the power of data for informed decision-making.
Opportunity Highlights
- Lead a team of Data engineers, providing guidance, support, and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Establish forward looking Data and technology objectives and developing the strategies, roadmap, and actions for the team to achieve them.
- Use best of breed Cloud based technologies to design, implement, and maintain a new generation scalable data lake, data warehouse/marts, and data pipelines.
- Manage budgets, resources, and project timelines to deliver high-quality data products keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
- Work collaboratively with senior management, product owners, developers, and other cross-functional teams to develop broadly acceptable solutions.
- Stay current with latest advancements in Data Engineering technologies, tools, and frameworks, and incorporate them into the team’s workflow.
- Ensure the quality, scalability, and security of data solutions, adhering to best practices and industry standards
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in analytical development processes, fostering a culture of learning and experimentation.
- Evangelize Enterprise Data & Analytics Team mission and identify opportunities to influence decision making with supporting data & analysis.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide actionable feedback to team members, identifying areas for growth and development to achieve their career goals.
- Evaluate and implement partnerships, vendor solutions, and external collaborations to augment the team's capabilities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field or experience
- Proven experience (at least 10+ years) in leading Data Teams, delivering advance data & analytics products and managing Enterprise level production data platforms.
- 5+ years of experience in building cloud data applications (data lake, cloud data warehouse, cloud analytical servers.) & Deep understanding of cloud computing (Azure preferred)
- 5+ years’ experience with a data engineering/analysis programming language (e.g., Python, R, PySpark etc.)
- 5+ years of proven SQL Server experience building and supporting Data Warehouse structures and supporting end user reporting tools such as Tableau/Power BI/SSRS
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, with a focus on quality and scalability, particularly in enterprise data & analytical applications.
- Experience in setting data design/architecture standards and best practices, leading forums to review initiatives and ensure adherence to the guidelines.
- Established experience delivering information management solutions to large numbers of end users.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building high-performing teams in generative AI.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work and potentially lead in an Agile methodology environment.
- Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and technical abilities
- Practical problem-solving skills and ability to move complex projects forward.
- Experience with CRM (Salesforce) & ERP (Peoplesoft) systems data.
