Job Description

Summary:

The Director of Cost Productivity will be accountable for delivering year-over-year cost of goods savings, and improving gross margin, without compromising product quality or compliance.  They will be responsible for developing the overall productivity strategy, setting targets, building robust project opportunity funnels, driving execution of these funnels, delivering savings in support of the current year operating plan, while building pipeline for the future years.  As a senior leader, they will work closely with functional leaders ensuring shared accountability and ownership.  They will interact directly with the executive leadership team to communicate progress, address barriers and set direction. 

This individual will have ownership for one of Accuray's strategic priorities.  Therefore, this is a highly visible role.  This is a new role in the business.  The leader will take on the challenge of executing and delivering in the short term while building the organizational muscle to sustain this effort for the long term.

The chosen candidate will need to poses a combination of skills including Strategic Thinking, Business Acumen, Execution Skills, Communication and Influencing change, driving continuous improvement, and making high quality and timely decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate to develop a strategy for ongoing cost productivity aligned to the business 3-year strategic plan

  • Own the strategy, establish and flow down appropriate targets

  • Collaborate to identify opportunities and to build robust project funnels

  • Establish business-wide operating mechanisms to ensure visibility, engagement and results

  • Own and drive execution of projects and delivery of targets

  • Challenge and establish processes that assure transparency and execution to deliverables

  • Assess opportunities to assure cost reduction returns are obtainable

  • Establish best -in-class cross functional efficiencies in cost structures and analysis

  • Partner with Finance to ensure financial rigor and business case analyses to ensure appropriate selection and prioritization of projects

  • Establish alignment with functional leaders to ensure shared ownership and accountability

  • Interact and communicate regularly with the senior leadership team to ensure visibility, awareness and priority

  • Make productivity a visible priority across the business through effective communication and influencing

  • Build the pipeline, develop the organizational muscle and deliver business impact on an on-going year over-year basis

Qualifications:

a. Required

  • BS in a technical or business field of study

  • 15 years of industry experience

  • Proven experience driving and delivering cost productivity or similar programs with broad business impact

  • Demonstratable strategic thinking and communication skills.  Ability to develop and articulate a strategy, motivate buy-in, and make it actionable.

  • Proven execution skills.  Resiliency to drive and deliver results.  Ability to manage complex programs and initiative

  • Solid financial and business acumen.  Ability to tie actions to financial outcomes.  Able to articulate targets in financial terms.

  • Strong analytic skills.  Necessary skills for making data-driven decisions and recommendations.

b. Preferred or Desired:

  • Experience or familiarity working in or with in Sourcing, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering or Quality functions

  • Experience operating in a regulated MedTech Industry

  • Previous experience operating in a Director or above level position

  • MBA or equivalent

  • Familiarity with Lean principles, tools and terminology.
