ABOUT THE POSITION

The Director of Client Services helps build and train our dynamic team of associates and manages client relationships, ensuring high-quality services are delivered to clients and their goals are met. The Director plays a pivotal role as a strategic thought partner and advisor to clients and provides support to the team. 

The ideal candidate possesses exceptional writing skills, with the ability to craft content that is smart, sharp, strategic, creative, and authentically reflects the diverse voices of our clients. They excel at strategic thinking, developing long-term plans to meet client objectives while maintaining critical thinking skills to analyze writing from all perspectives and dig deep for the best solutions. Their natural curiosity drives them to immerse themselves in topics vital to our region, such as homelessness, health care, juvenile justice, and equitable arts access. Above all, they are deeply passionate about making the region a healthier, safer, and more equitable place for everyone. By contributing their expertise, they support organizations in maximizing their impact and achieving lasting change.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Client Relationship Management: Develop and nurture strong relationships with key clients, serving as their primary point of contact.
  • Account Management: Oversee multiple client accounts, ensuring that their needs and expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Client Communication: Act as a liaison between the client and internal teams, facilitating effective communication and understanding of client requirements.
  • Project Oversight: Supervise the execution of projects, campaigns or services to ensure they align with client goals and expectations.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with clients to understand their long-term goals and develop strategic plans to meet them.
  • Budget Management: Manage client budgets and financial aspects of projects, ensuring profitability and adherence to financial targets.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor client services teams, providing guidance and support in client interactions and project execution.
  • Staff Development: Directly participate in staff development via team onboarding and supporting the development of staff training.
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve client issues or concerns promptly, maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the delivery of high-quality services or products to clients, meeting or exceeding agreed-upon standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, public administration or a related field is preferred. Master’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience equivalent to Development Director, Director Individual Giving or Capital Campaign Manager. Three (3) or more years’ experience in client services with a similar agency is preferred.
  • Proven expertise in capital campaign management and/or individual donor management.
  • Strong leadership, team management and interpersonal skills to effectively lead account teams and maintain client relationships.
  • Superior writing and communication skills, excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, knowledge of fund development software and systems, ability to work independently and as part of a team, positive attitude and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • The ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans to meet client objectives.
  • Critical thinking skills, curiosity, and a passion for making the region a healthier, safer, more equitable place.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary Range is $105,000–$120,000. The position is hybrid (2 days in-office/3 remote) in San Pedro, CA with one (1) remote week each quarter. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage. At S/I more than 55% of profit goes directly back to employees through a generous profit sharing program that includes both cash bonuses and 401(k) (fully vested) contributions
