What We Need

The Director, Business Development is responsible for developing an organizational growth strategy through relationship building with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) vendors and suppliers across the country. The individual in this role will lead initiatives to expand Synapse Health’s vendor/supplier network supporting our payer and post-acute facility discharges. This includes analyzing and monitoring the post-acute HME environment and partnering with leadership to ensure the vendor/supplier network is as robust and patient-focused, as possible. The director will serve as a Synapse Health advocate; developing strong relationships between Vendor Network Management, manufacturers, and the maintenance of current vendors, as well as expanding our vendor network strategically and filling any potential gaps in our current network. This position will lead all recruitment efforts in ensuring network adequacy throughout the country and in support of any operational initiative and communicate any market trends or needs voiced by potential vendors/suppliers not yet within the network. This role will develop annual plans based on internal utilization data, geographic expansions, and system growth objectives – ensuring a culture focused on vendor/supplier satisfaction, member/patient satisfaction, in a cost-effective manner. 

This role reports directly to the Sr. VP, Strategic Growth & Strategy. This role is fully remote; it may require up to 20% travel, including trips to our corporate headquarters in Skokie, IL. 

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets. 
  • Create and communicate sales goals and ensure C-level executives are informed on the progress of those goals. 
  • Build and maintain long-lasting, strong relationships with customers while partnering with them to better understand their business objectives and needs. 
  • Understand healthcare and DME industry-specific trends and landscapes. 
  • Effectively communicate value propositions through presentations and proposals. 
  • Report on forces that shift strategic directions of accounts and tactical budgets. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and product development, to identify opportunities for business growth and develop strategies to capitalize on those opportunities. 

What You Have

  • A bachelor's degree in business or related field. 
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a business development or sales-type role, with a minimum of 2 years in a sales leadership role. 
  • Professional exposure to the healthcare industry is required, knowledge of the DME industry is strongly preferred. 
  • Excellent communication skills - written, in-person and virtual.  
  • Advanced technology skills are critical (tech-savvy).  
  • Experience translating complex concepts into easy-to-understand presentations.  
  • Experience "selling" ideas, especially those that are technology related.  
  • Demonstrate analytical skills when problem-solving. 
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
