DIRECTV is seeking an innovative and experienced public relations professional and content creator responsible for driving external awareness of Business-to-Business teams through earned, owned, and social communications by creating, writing, researching, and developing solid, actionable content in various formats and comprehensive campaigns while ensuring consistent brand messaging and visual identity across all communication channels to maintain DIRECTV’s reputation and market positioning.

  • Has solid understanding of the digital marketing landscape and familiarity with the advertising technology industry, including programmatic buying, data-driven marketing, and ad tech solutions. 
  • Has a working knowledge of the pay-TV industry, specifically DIRECTV and its competitors.
  • Has served as a corporate spokesperson in the past.
  • Has strong media contacts in the B2B, advertising sales, and ad tech industry with demonstrated success in pitching.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Create, write, edit, proof, fact-check, and publish a variety of B2B and B2B2C communications with a relentless focus on quality.
  • Work closely with internal partners across DIRECTV for Business, Advertising Sales and Indirect Sales channels, and Corporate Communications (earned, owned, social, and employee) to take projects from conception to completion.
  • Lead content development and copywriting/messaging projects, including ideation, writing, and editing of materials; ensuring projects align with comprehensive company and business unit messaging and follow legal and brand guidelines.
  • Create various content types, including press releases, videos, bylines, social media posts, blogs, and more regularly.
  • Identify content gaps for high-value keywords, both untapped conversations and relative to competitors (research and education-based).
  • Become an expert on all things DIRECTV and be able to be an ambassador on DIRECTV FOR BUSINESS, DIRECTV Advertising Sales and indirect distribution channels including but not limited to ISP agreements and multifamily properties.
  • Produce weekly PR reports illustrating the number of impressions, specifics around media outlets and upcoming areas of focus/pending releases.
  • Develop media plans to support industry tentpoles (CES, Upfronts, Cannes, Advertising Week, HiTec, Hospitality Show, etc.) to generate buzz around business initiatives, campaigns, product launches, etc.
  • Partner with news and industry publications to facilitate internal and external interviews to create content for trade articles, press releases, event promotion, and awards/recognition.

Qualifications & skills needed for success in this role:

  • 10+ years’ experience writing, editing, and creating content across print and/or digital media supported by a strong portfolio of high-quality work. A bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Strong, adaptable written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create effective content in a variety of styles and formats including (but not limited to) press releases, emails, videos, blogs, employee communications, newsletters, videos, and speeches.
  • Ability to create and develop compelling stories about departmental activities for a mass external audience.
  • Capable of working both independently and in a collaborative, team-focused environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to exercise good editorial judgment and discretion.
  • Deep understanding of branded content and how editorial can work to help achieve revenue goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize performance data to inform and improve content creation and strategy.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to work independently and manage multiple ongoing projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, advanced working knowledge of Word.

May require a background check due to job duties requiring routine access to DIRECTV and DIRECTV customer’s proprietary data. Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction will be considered for employment in accordance with local ordinances and state law.

This role requires a minimum, but is not limited to, approximately 25% travel.

This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the United States; preference with proximity to New York City for in-office collaboration 2 days/week alongside our Ad Sales team. #LI-Remote

DIRECTV's compensation structure is designed to be market-competitive and fully supports efforts to attract and retain employees. It is the company's policy to offer pay that is competitive with other employers in the local market. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

DIRECTV WAGE ZONES: $105,830 - $192,050

Low (N1): $105,830 - $158,650

Mid (N2): $111,400 - $167,000

High (N3): $122,540 - $183,700

Top (N4): $128,110 - $192,050
