DevOps / Network Administrator

MetTel is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Network Administrator - GitOps to join our team in New Jersey!

In this role, you will leverage GitOps principles and tools like GitLab, Git Enterprise, Argo, Crossplane, container repositories, and Helm to manage and deploy network functions and configurations to ensure a reliable, secure, and automated network environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and manage network infrastructure using GitOps methodologies with GitLab.
• Write and maintain network configuration files using IaC tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Pulumi, leveraging Crossplane for unified infrastructure management across MetTel assets in data centers and cloud environments.
• Collaborate with developers and DevOps engineers to integrate network configurations into GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
• Utilize private container repositories to store and manage containerized network function images.
• Monitor network health and performance using GitOps-friendly monitoring tools including Grafana, Prometheus, NetBrain and Intermapper.
• Troubleshoot network issues and identify root causes.
• Implement security best practices in network configurations, Git repositories, container images, and Helm charts for automated network function deployments.
• Stay up-to-date on emerging network technologies, GitOps tools, containerization technologies, and Kubernetes common body of knowledge.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 3-5yrs of years of experience as a Network Administrator.
• Strong understanding of Enterprise networking principles.
• Experience with network automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Pulumi (preferred).
• Demonstrable working familiarity with Git version control is required.
• Working knowledge of operational and security GitOps principles and practices is required.
• Direct experience with CI/CD pipelines in a Network Function context is preferred.
• Proven working experience with container technologies (Docker, container registries, Kubernetes) is required.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes fundamentals is required.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional desirable qualifications:

• Experience with network security tools and methodologies.
• Experience with mobile core VNFs (MME, SGW, HSS, PCRF, PGW)
• Experience with IMS core VNFs (PCSCF, ICSCF, SCSCF, SLF)
• Experience with cloud-native network architectures and containerization technologies (Docker, CNI, Kubernetes).
• Experience with network security principles and best practices.
