Job Description

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to support our web development team at this very exciting time.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical experience in designing, testing, automating and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure to support web application deployments in a fast-paced technology environment.

The role involves managing existing IT infrastructure, developing new cloud-based infrastructure including infrastructure-as-code, and working closely with a development team to automate and streamline code deployments while assisting with release management.

Note: this is not a web application development role; we are seeking a DevOps Engineer who wishes to take on a significant responsibility to support a major suite of applications.

Salary circa £45,000 - £60,000 depending on experience | Hybrid Working (3 days on site). Please note that we are based in a rural location with no public transport.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an existing suite of internal and external virtual environments, including modernising older infrastructure assets from on-premise to cloud.

  • Plan the migration of legacy IaaS technologies to modern PaaS environments.

  • Configuration and setup of environments and infrastructure on multi cloud systems (Saas or Paas based).

  • Support, actively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production-level infrastructure issues.

  • Design, deploy and maintain a new infrastructure-as-code (IaC) strategy across development, QA, UAT and production environments for a major new PaaS platform.

  • Collaborate with the development team to develop and integrate CI/CD processes for enterprise applications using pipelines and other associated technologies. Automate and improve development and release processes.

  • Implement best-practice security measures and ensure critical resolution of system issues in conjunction with internal security teams.

  • Work with developers and our test team to actively optimise the performance and stability of our infrastructure environments, balancing performance and cost.

  • Act as a deployment gateway by overseeing pre-production acceptance testing, to ensure high quality of services and products.

  • Maintain an active understanding of the latest industry trends and technology to guide the team towards an optimal cloud infrastructure.

  • Work with senior members of the team to plan release and gather required resources and expertise to support releases.
