Serviceability & Manufacturability HW Device Mechanical Engineer
Mechanical Engineering leads and delivers the development of innovative and compliant mechanical design solutions, as well as cross-functional interfaces for desktop, portable and server computer systems and peripherals. Our team conducts the analysis, feasibility studies and testing of mechanical products, instruments, subassemblies and packaging for new and existing products – and then oversees the introduction of design changes to the manufacturing organizations.

What you’ll achieve
The Serviceability & Manufacturability HW Device Mechanical Engineer will focus on Hardware device/commodity design/architecture concepts and how it relates to computer system mechanical chassis designs and assembly. This role will drive best in class design concept alignment between device and system engineering that allow for system level fully automated manufacturing/assembly while allow for designs that support field serviceability agility.
You will:

Sub-system Solution focus bridging device commodity, system architecture, and manufacturing capabilities with a focus on manufacturing automation and downstream serviceability.

Engage with ODM on factory process with heavy emphasis on automated assembly. Become SME (subject matter expert) on DFMAA (Design for manufacturing Assembly and Automation)

Engage with Device Architects on respective commodities and suppliers on improved solutions, rethinking approach, and updating RFI/RFQ/Specs. Engage with System Architects at sub-system solution level working cross-functionally.

Work cross-functionally with Device, Platform teams, ODMs, and factory operations on device commodity solutions and working through issues to resolution.

Capture lessons learned into future designs, RFI/RFQs, and specifications.

Essential Requirements

Bachelor’s and or a Master’s degree in computer mechanical engineering and or related fields

Extensive knowledge in computer hardware (notebook and desktop) mechanical engineering concepts.

Solid knowledge of component / hardware device (Display panels, Audio speakers, camera modules, battery packs, touch pad, etc.…) designs and the interactions with Computer mechanical chassis for assembly and serviceability.

Good understanding factory assembly / automation direction for computer industry.

Familiar with DFMA (Design for manufacturing and assembly) and FMEA (Fa
