Detection Analyst

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement advanced threat detection mechanisms.
• Monitor and analyze security alerts and logs to identify potential threats.
• Conduct threat hunting activities to proactively identify security risks.
• Collaborate with incident response teams to investigate and respond to security incidents.
• Maintain and improve existing detection tools and systems.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity trends and threat intelligence.
• Create and maintain documentation for detection processes and procedures.
• Design playbooks and automations to improve efficiencies within the Threat Analysis team
• Identify, orchestrate, implement, and document solutions for improving all aspects of the Cyber Defense team.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field or 6+ years performing detection engineering
• Proven experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on threat detection and analysis.
• Proficiency in using security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and security architectures.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
• Knowledge of threat intelligence and threat hunting methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in data analysis at scale.
• Implementation and customization of Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) platforms.

Preferred Skills:

• Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or GIAC.
• Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence in cybersecurity.
• Familiarity with cloud security platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Experience with endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools.
