Schrödinger seeks a Desmond Intern to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods.
As a member of our Life Science Software team, you'll play a crucial role in addressing the disorder exhibited by molecular crystals (wherein two different conformations occupy the same crystal lattice).

What you'll do:
- Contribute to the development of a novel computational approach for molecular crystal structure prediction (CSP)
- Extract and curate a dataset of molecular crystal structures from the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) using Conquest
- Develop and run Python scripts to process and analyze a molecular crystal dataset for trends in molecular conformation and crystal packing
- Develop insights from the analysis that can make CSP more efficient
- Run full-scale CSP calculations to evaluate advancements
What you should have:
- A completed or ongoing PhD in Computational Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field
- Track record of implementing novel analysis or simulation methods for atomic simulations (Python preferred)
- Robust chemical intuition for interactions taking place in molecular systems

Estimated base salary: $7,500/mo . Actual compensation package is dependent on a number of factors, including, for example, experience, education, degrees held, market data, and business needs.
