GDP combines the best of advertising, journalism, identity, and digital to help brands tell better stories. We are looking for a summer intern to join our team of creatives.
Collectively, our talented crew of editors, writers, creative directors, video producers, and brand strategists have created an award-winning Netflix series, redesigned National Geographic magazine, made a documentary about iconic sneakers, and spearheaded the launch of Microsoft’s WorkLab digital publication, which includes newsletters, reports, feature stories, and a podcast.
The focus of the internship is design and art direction. Our clients include large tech corporations, media companies, arts and culture organizations, and nonprofits.
The candidates most likely to thrive are self-starters who prefer trying to solve a challenge their own way first before collaborating with others. They are comfortable receiving an assignment or directions and then running with the project, taking responsibility for communications with their team when they want assistance or guidance.
This is a paid hybrid role in San Francisco.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing original design work for a wide range of formats: print, web, and social media; working on video in different specializations of design: brand identity, advertising, editorial, etc.
- Shaping presentations that effectively articulate, document, and convey the underlying concept and logic of a proposed design.
- Presenting concepts and design rounds to the internal team for feedback
- Collaborating with a diverse mix of teams—from art directors, writers, designers, and producers to account managers and strategists—to refine and elevate your work
- Contributing to pitches for new business by helping the team design compelling presentations and bring to life ideas that position Godfrey Dadich Partners to win new work
- Working alongside other designers and writers to craft business and communications systems for, by, and about GDP, including owned, social, and physical platforms
- Working on a collaborative Intern Pitch Project that gives interns from different teams an opportunity to create a proposal and build a pitch from the ground up.
Qualifications include:
- A commitment of up to 40 hours a week from June through August
- Previous experience working in a professional design environment, or currently working toward a degree in a design-centered field
- Highly collaborative and resourceful. A self-starter who proactively moves projects forward between check-ins
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex, sometimes abstract, concepts clearly and persuasively
- A strong comfort level with an organic and iterative design process. Someone who approaches feedback as an opportunity to learn and improve as an individual and as a team member.
- Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail
- Has a keen interest in typography and grid, and follows current trends and innovations in design
- A basic understanding of interaction design best practices when designing for digital environments is a plus
- A demonstrated fluency with design tools such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, and Keynote
- A familiarity with video, photography, illustration, animation/motion, or 3D environments. Experience working with AI tools is a plus.
