Job Purpose:


The Design Engineer supports the manufacturing of Bliss products to meet customer needs, expectations, and specifications.


Responsibilities and Duties:


  1. Uses computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs. Must be familiar with 3-D design, preferably SolidWorks and/or Inventor; sheet metal, weldments, parts, assembly, and drawings.
  2. Convert 2-D hand drawings to 3-D models and prints.
  3. Reviews customer’s designs, contract requirements, and related specifications for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and ensure it meets customer’s needs.
  4. Interface with customers and company representative to certify our products meet customer satisfaction and expectations.
  5. Work with suppliers to ensure parts are delivered to specifications.
  6. Provides production support to the fabrication, machining, test lab, and assembly areas.​
  7. Evaluates and implements design changes, specifications and drawing releases.


Qualifications:


  1. Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  3. Background or experience with welding fabrication, machining, and product design.
  4. Familiar with 3-D design, SolidWorks and/or Inventor preferred.

 

Work Environment:

The employee will mainly work in an office environment and fabrication shop. Travel as required; may occasionally travel to sites that are not wheelchair accessible. The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to moderate.

Mental: Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion; ability to handle work-related stress; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously; and ability to meet deadlines

Physical: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel, such as keyboarding and writing. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Must have visual acuity to read and draft reports, memos, letters, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. Must be able to speak and communicate clearly.
