Senior Demand Planner
We are currently seeking a dynamic individual for our Performance Products Division at our site located in The Woodlands, Texas to fill an opening as a Senior Demand Planner.
Job Scope
The Senior Demand Planner is responsible for the overall forecasting process within the 0–3-month time horizon for their assigned product families. This role works closely with both the commercial team, specifically Sales, and supply chain, specifically the Master Planners and Schedulers, to ensure smooth fulfillment of customer needs. Communication of the aggregate demand plan, along with any upside, while helping facilitate any gap closures needed is an integral part of the planning process. Understanding of the assumptions, risks, and opportunities associated with the demand plan along with an understanding of the budget we are aiming for are important.
In summary, as the Senior Demand Planner, your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Understanding of the customers and products in your assigned product families.
- With direction from supervisor and sales management, manage any allocation process (i.e. sales control) during times of limited supply.
- Work closely with sales to understand the customer needs for the near term and understand when gaps to forecast/budget need to be filled.
- Communicate any impactful deviations to the demand plan to the appropriate supply team to determine if changes in production plans are needed.
- Analysis of historical sales vs. the plan going forward. Challenge any discrepancies to understand the underlying assumptions and risks using KPI’s such as forecast accuracy and forecast bias. Influence changes to reduce forecast error and strive for continuous improvement.
- Daily monitoring of orders vs. forecast for the current month.
- Ensuring the forecast database, FUTURCAST, is updated in a timely fashion for key forecast snapshot dates during the month.
- Weekly participation in the Commercial War room with updates on your assigned product families.
- Participate in weekly production planning meetings and escalate any issues that need further attention.
- Represent the demand team on various projects or in meetings for your assigned product families.
- Technical upkeep of the forecasting database including managing forecast snapshots to other systems (data warehouse and SAP), loading historical sales to the system, and managing user access.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (engineering, finance, business, or supply chain preferred) along with 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent professional experience may also be considered.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to present numbers is fundamental.
- Excellent speaking – writing – reading skills in English
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint)
- Good interpersonal & communication skills
- Execution oriented with strong problem solving skills, work effectively in a team environment, excellent internal and external customer focus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in the petrochemical industry
- Understanding of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) in SAP (or similar ERP system)
- Experience using systems such as SAP, demand planning tools, Power BI
- APICS: CPIM certification
