The National Security Sector at Leidos, supporting the Medium/Overlord Unmanned Surface Vessel (O/MUSV) Program, is seeking Deckhands with Entry level USCG Merchant Mariner Credentials and corresponding STCW certificates to support a dynamic high growth organization. The O/MUSV program is based in Port Hueneme, CA, and is responsible for delivering cutting edge autonomous vessel technology to the US Navy. The program operates and maintains prototype autonomous vessels for test and evaluation of the vessels as well as developing operations, maintenance, logistics and training procedures for the autonomous Fleet of the future.
Deckhands work rotating 12 hour shifts, on a 28 day on/28 day off rotation. Duties include preparation, preservation, and cleanliness of navy watercraft, watch standing at sea and in port, and pre/post mission craft readiness functions. Provides basic facility maintenance support and cleaning duties.
Primary Responsibilities:

Crew Member (Deckhand) shall be experienced in basic seamanship duties and capable of performing as line handler, watch stander and ship's crew as required.

Reports to Master and Ops Coordinator for unmanned O/MUSV ship, working at-sea and/or dockside environments.

Assists in preparation, preservation, and cleanliness of unmanned M/OUSV ship, and any associated equipment.

Assists in pre/post mission craft readiness functions

Provides basic facility maintenance support and cleaning duties

May assist in facility security and visitor control function

You will participate in Leidos and Government safety programs.

This position will require close cooperation and working relationships with active-duty military and other Government personnel.
Required Qualifications:
-
Position requires the ability to perform in an arduous duty environment.

High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

Previous experience performing basic seamanship duties.

Familiarity with small boat operation, basic small craft maintenance, line handling, and launching/recovering from trailers.

Ability to lift 40lbs.
-
Individuals must possess the ability and demeanor to share common spaces over lengthy deployment periods and work closely with others in a small working area and in a shipboard environment.

Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Us citizen with ability to obtain a Secret level DoD Security clearance.

USCG Entry Level MMC or greater STCW RFPNW
Preferred Qualifications:

Active Secret level DoD Security clearance.

Prior US service afloat on US Government vessels

Pay Range:Pay Range $39,650.00 - $71,675.00
