Job Description
ROLE OVERVIEW

The Data, Digital and Technology (DD&T) Product Owner manages product delivery within the Legal's Records and Information Management portfolio and is responsible for the day-today development and alignment of delivery to the strategic vision. The Product Owner is focused on delivery, release plans, and communicating progress to stakeholders. S/he is responsible for leading virtual teams to releasing a product that meets the customer's needs to achieve the team goals and has end-to-end responsibility for defining and prioritizing requirements (stories) in the backlog and accepts requirements (stories) as completed. The role involves overseeing a medium-sized team, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical capabilities.
OBJECTIVES:

  • Manage the key relationships between the business stakeholders and DD&T to deliver on business opportunities and outcomes and, to drive continuous delivery of value using agile product life cycle management from product prototyping, development, optimizations, and renewals to product terminations.
  • Lead the development of one or multiple product strategies, fitting into long-term roadmaps and drive the product priority-setting of capabilities and features in response to business needs aligned with DD&T architecture, deployment and product and release management.
  • Proactively monitor and maintain product related end-to-end customer/business experiences and influence relevant stakeholders to support and deliver successful product releases.
  • Partner with Enterprise DD&T teams to identify and use optimal technologies and resources for projects and products and to drive continuous improvement of service processes, user experiences and application optimization aligned with business stakeholders.


ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Customer Relationship Management

  • Manage and influence key stakeholders across business and technology, to develop and convey product visions.
  • Communicate how the product is meeting the business priorities and goals of the organizations (business, technology, and marketing).
  • Work with partners in Legal's Records and Information Management function, DD&T Transformation & Operations ' Acquisition, Integration & Divestiture function, and other areas in the technology and data, and ecosystem to accomplish product goals.
  • Identify high priority / critical issues and provide solutions to Legal's Records and Information Management and DD&T Transformation & Operations' Acquisition, Integration & Divestiture functions needs.
  • Communicate issues and successes up and down in the product teams, DD&T, and the business.
  • Manage the expectations of business owners and other stakeholders.


Product Delivery

  • Manage end to end delivery of archival and continuous improvement projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Develop product vision and strategy and synchronize it with Legal's Records and Information Management, process owners, and product owners of teams responsible for adjacent products.
  • Define product offering in terms of benefits, features, and customer journeys.
  • Provide recommendations on features needed for the product for future stages of development.
  • Build a backlog of user stories, prioritize items to achieve business goals and continuously update together with the team.
  • Lead team through the process of defining product requirements ensuring they are complete, integral, consistent, and the sole source of requirements for the team.
  • Participates and leads requirement gathering sessions and is responsible for translating business requirements into clear user stories.
  • Prioritize features for the product roadmap with development teams and ensure successful product releases.
  • Support the team in collecting ideas and setting priorities for prototyping and development.
  • Scope the MVP considering existing resource constraints and sustained development of the product.
  • Oversee initiation and execution of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Define product offering in terms of benefits, features, and customer journeys.


Monitoring and Reporting

  • Build a backlog of user stories, prioritize items to achieve business goals and continuously update together with the team.
  • Make sure the team correctly understands the requirements.
  • Work with the scrum master, engineering manager, and designer leads to align timelines, dependencies, and scope.
  • Participate in the planning sprint to reaffirm priorities and confirm requirements.
  • Interact with other teams and units as part of synchronization ceremonies to implement cross-team tasks.
  • Support the team in collecting ideas and setting priorities for prototyping and development.
  • Develop a strategic customer engagement plan for the product and work with Legal's Records and Information Management group and strategic partners across the organization to drive execution.
  • Work with Legal's Records and Information Management, DD&T Transformation & Operations' Acquisition, Integration & Divestiture, and DD&T Corporate Functions to prepare for customer launch and readiness.


Management

  • Responsible for managing vendor contracting and engagements and for managing project financials and deliverables.
  • Responsible for creating and managing project plans.
  • Responsible for creating insightful communication artifacts for keeping project teams and stakeholders informed and up to date of project status, issues and risks.
  • Responsible for creating project charters and for working with vendors to develop implementation cost estimates.
  • Support of M&A integration activities such as data migrations and systems consolidation.

  • Working knowledge of AWS or Azure, SQL and Relational Databases, and modern APIs, Microservices, and component-based systems.
  • Experience working with Jira and Agile development.
  • Experience working in a GxP environment.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field.
  • 5+ years of solid experience owning and delivering digital products across the enterprise.
  • Experience with records and information management including archiving and digitization of file plans.
  • Strong experience in concept sharing and delivering end-to-end implementations of data product solutions.
  • Background that comprises both solid business acumen as well as high-level understanding of high-quality digital product delivery.
  • Good understanding of Agile & Lean delivery principles.
  • Strong collaborator, team player and individual contributor, able to build sense of trust and rapport that creates comfortable & effective workplace.
  • Experience in stakeholder relationship management. Influential in orchestrating key stakeholders and product teams to turn product vision into reality.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, business acumen, and enterprise knowledge.
  • Understand design thinking and can explain complex problems in simple terms.
  • Work with virtual/agile teams in different locations, aligning and adapting different work, culture and communication styles.
  • Knowledge of the health science industry, macro trends, and how health science companies operate across the value chain is preferred.
