Job Description

The day program coordinator (DPC) is a pivotal position at the day program site an in the community. They are primarily responsible for the coordination of safety, health care/nutrition, scheduling, document creation, site visits, supervision of staff in the absence of the program director, and general operations. In these areas, the DPC should be involved directly in all program planning, assessments, and implementation. The DPC reports to the Program Director and also maintains direct communication with the Nurse, Consumer Benefits Coordinator, Health Service Coordinator, and maintenance staff. The DPC will also assist in direct training, follow up, and coaching with program staff in the aforementioned areas, keeping the Program Director informed.


The DPC is responsible for coordinating a variety of services including, but not limited to; individual finances, community integration, program implementation, family involvement, and education/vocational programs. The DPC is required to assist the Program Director in maintaining consistency in programming, individual care, and communication with staff and interdisciplinary team members. The DPC also carries out the responsibilities and duties of the DSP during all direct care shifts in which they work.

Qualifications

Minimum 18 years of age. High school diploma/GED required. Basic computer, keyboarding, and software skills required. Prior education and/or experience in residential and/or support services for individuals with developmental disabilities required.

Also must possess all of the following:

  • a sincere desire to provide supports to persons with developmental disabilities.
  • ability to make sound judgments when given guidance and priorities.
  • ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality in services.
  • ability to exchange support, constructive criticism, and ideas with other staff members and relevant professionals.
  • flexibility in working various days, hours, and sites with various individuals.
  • adaptability to change.
  • willingness to accept all work assignments as provided by supervisor.



Additional Information

This position is designated as an Unlimited Driving Position --defined as one that requires an employee to drive a motor vehicle as a part of his/her Dungarvin work, including vehicles owned or leased by Dungarvin, and/or to drive a vehicle in which a person served is transported. Any employee in this position must comply with the requirements outlined in the POLICY AND PROCEUDRE ON DRIVING AND THE USE OF MOTOR VEHICLES (A-8.) All employees in this position must have a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record as defined by our insurance carrier. An employee hired for a position that requires the employee to drive his/her own car is responsible for his/her own automobile insurance. A willingness to use personal vehicle to provide transportation for individuals is required.

FUN FACT:

Our founders Tim Madden (24 years old) and Diane (23 years old) decided to start a business that would provide community housing for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through diligent research and planned Tim and Diane officially opened their first 15 person residential program in St. Paul, Minnesota in March 1976. Tim and Diane were the live-ins for that first program and they have continued their leadership of the organization since. Through the success of that program Dungarvin has grown to employ approximately 4,000 people who currently provide supports to over 4,712 individuals across 14 states.
