Job Summary

The Database Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting the implementation of our next generation Data Platform. This role will have interaction with all of our software products at Nextech and serve as a liaison between our Healthcare Platform and our Data Platform serving reporting, BI/Analytics and AI initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • In addition to working in accordance with appropriate conduct and behavioral standards, specific responsibilities of this role include:
  • Designing, developing, implementing, and monitoring highly scalable processes to ingest and process high volume data change sets while ensuring high performance and quality.
  • Collaborating with various teams to translate reporting and analytics requirements into a data fulfillment strategy including building data pipelines, data aggregations, infrastructure and tooling to support business initiatives.
  • Overseeing the design and maintenance of data pipelines and contributing to the continual enhancement of our data platform architecture.
  • Working with development teams and product stakeholders to continuously explore new capabilities and technologies to drive innovation.
  • Collaborating with the team to meet performance, scalability, and reliability goals.
  • Writing tests and documentation for processes, and tooling.
  • Supporting data transformation testing and production implementation as required.
  • Participate in development team sprint planning and stand-up events.
  • Provide routine guidance to software development teams for best practices.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of industry experience as a Data Engineer
  • Experience in Microsoft technologies and Azure cloud services including Azure SQL, Azure DataBricks or Spark on Azure, Microsoft Purview, Azure Data Lake Storage or One Lake, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience with data warehousing, operational data stores, large-scale implementations and ETL/ELT/data streaming processing. Azure Data Factory is preferred.
  • Experience with GitHub and CI/CD practices such as Azure DevOps.
  • Strong working knowledge of data security practices.
  • A solid foundation in data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, data modeling, data pipeline processes, data integration patterns and software design.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting related to data analysis.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors or equivalent college degree
  • Solid understanding of HIPAA privacy laws
  • Microsoft MCSA 2016 or equivalent certification
  • Experience working with a Software as a Service development team
  • Experience developing solutions to manage data platforms at scale
