CACI’s NGA Vertex IT Services program is seeking a skilled Database Engineer specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to join our team in Springfield, VA. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that support national security initiatives.

As a Database Engineer - GIS, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing advanced database solutions for geographic information systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, GIS technologies, and a proven track record of working on complex IT projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise in database design, development, and implementation, with a focus on GIS applications.

  • Develop relational and/or Object-Oriented databases, including database parser software and loading software.

  • Project long-range requirements for database administration and design, considering factors such as data volumes, user numbers, distribution, response times, retention rules, security, and domain controls.

  • Work primarily on the front end of the project lifecycle, from requirements gathering through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC).

  • Develop requirements for simple to complex systems from project inception to conclusion.

  • Assist with recommendations, analysis, and evaluation of systems improvements, optimization, development, and maintenance efforts.

  • Create and manage ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros to manipulate data effectively.

  • Build complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database Connectivity, and implement database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies.

Qualifications:
Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 7 years of related work experience in database engineering and administration.

  • Strong knowledge of GIS technologies and applications.

  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Active TS/SCI clearance (required).

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$94,400 - $198,300
