We are seeking a skilled Cloud Database Reliability Engineer with expertise in PostgreSQL, SQL, and NoSQL databases, along with experience in cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, optionally Azure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining our AWS hosted databases, ensuring their performance, reliability, and scalability.
What you'll do:
- Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL, SQL, and NoSQL databases on AWS platform.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance improvements.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of database systems through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize database schemas and queries.
- Implement and manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Automate routine database tasks using scripting and cloud-native tools.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and cloud infrastructure best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure database security and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Apply FinOps best practices to manage and optimize cloud costs related to database infrastructure.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Database Engineer or similar role.
- Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL and SQL.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud-native database services such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, and Azure SQL Database.
- Proficient in database performance tuning and optimization.
- Knowledge of database backup and recovery best practices.
- Experience with database security and compliance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of FinOps best practices for cloud cost management and optimization.
Nice to have:
- AWS Certified Database - Specialty or Azure Database Administrator Associate certification.
- Experience with database automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience with Change Data Capture (CDC) and Logical Replication and decoding.
- Development, test and deploy database code focused on automation and fast troubleshooting.
