Database Administrator and Initiative Lead
Job Description
To stabilise and optimise the database environment by introducing redundancy, automation, and access control measures that reduce downtime and improve platform performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct assessment and design for high availability and redundancy within the SQL Server environment

Automate critical database maintenance operations including indexing, patching, and backups
-
Identify applications causing strain on the database and recommend architectural redesigns
-
Audit and remediate direct external access to production databases
-
Work with development, architecture, and security teams to ensure compliance and performance
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Educational Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related

Microsoft SQL Server certifications preferred (e.g., MCSA, MCSE)
Years of Experience:
-
5+ years in DBA roles within enterprise environments
Other requirements:
-
Expertise in high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions
-
Familiarity with data governance, auditing, and secure access controls
-
Experience with automation tools like PowerShell, SQL Agent Jobs, or Azure Automation
-
Proficient in SQL performance tuning and root cause analysis
