Passionate about precision medicine and advancing the healthcare industry?
Recent advancements in underlying technology have finally made it possible for AI to impact clinical care in a meaningful way. Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.
About our Teams:
At Tempus, products are owned and developed by small, autonomous teams composed of developers, designers, scientists, clinicians, and product managers. You and your team set the goals, build the software, deploy the code, and contribute to a growing software platform that will make a lasting impact in the field of healthcare research and treatment.
Tempus builds rich longitudinal datasets which enable research and product development. Our data and reporting infrastructure – using BigQuery, Snowflake, and Looker – allows product teams to deliver advanced insights with confidence, and at scale.
As a Data Visualization Engineer on the Tempus Next team, you will work on solutions to synthesize clinical and enriched data from the Next product, which identifies patients with gaps in their clinical care. You will translate these into visually compelling dashboards for internal stakeholders, healthcare providers, and health system administrators at the point of care. As a Data Visualization Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the quality, accuracy and timeliness of data products
- Performing custom analyses to support account managers and clinical partners (e.g., identify patients that meet clinical trial inclusion/exclusion criteria)
- Designing, building, and maintaining stand-alone data visualizations and dashboards for both internal and external stakeholders
- Empowering account and product managers to conduct their own data investigations, and build their own visualizations, by designing, creating, and maintaining data models, and writing supporting documentation (e.g., entity relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, data/dashboard inventories)
Why we’re looking for you:
- You have 3 or more years of hands-on experience developing data visualizations
- Experience working with Looker or other Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI)
- Strong experience with SQL and relational data
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- You enjoy collaborating with a cross disciplinary team of account managers, product managers and engineers, and are comfortable interfacing with other teams
- You write high quality, well-documented code that is scalable, version-controlled (GitHub) and easy to use by other team members.
- Excellent time-management skills (e.g., accurately estimating time to complete tasks, working with stakeholders to set deadlines and priorities)
Bonus points for:
- Experience developing data ETL/ELT tools and scripts
- Experience developing software in Python/R, Javascript (D3.js), HTML, CSS
- Experience working with APIs and API clients
- Experience working with dbt
- Experience working with data warehouse technologies like BigQuery and Snowflake
- Experience working with cloud service providers like Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Wed Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure
- Experience working with clinical or healthcare data (especially if related to Cardiology or Oncology)
- Experience with Agile development methodologies (e.g., JIRA/Trello, RACI)
