We are seeking a talented and passionate Data Scientist to join our growing team and play a crucial role in developing and optimising our predictive models for churn, expansion, and contraction. You will also contribute to data-driven marketing strategies to enhance customer acquisition and engagement.

Responsibilities - Develop and maintain predictive models:

  • Utilize machine-learning techniques to build robust models that accurately predict customer churn, expansion (upgrades), and contraction (downgrades).
  • Analyze large datasets of customer behavior, product usage, demographics, and financial transactions to identify key drivers for each outcome.
  • Experiment with various modeling approaches (e.g., logistic regression, survival analysis, decision trees, deep learning) to optimize predictive performance for each model.
  • Develop and implement strategies for feature engineering and selection to improve model accuracy.

Analyse and interpret model results:

  • Clearly communicate model insights and recommendations to stakeholders across different departments.
  • Translate complex technical findings into actionable business strategies for customer retention, growth, and revenue optimization.
  • Create visualizations and reports to effectively present data-driven insights

Collaborate with cross-functional teams:

  • Work closely with product managers, engineers, and marketing teams to integrate predictive models into the product, marketing campaigns, and customer success initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of data-driven strategies for customer segmentation, personalized messaging, and targeted interventions.

Contribute to marketing analytics:

  • Analyse marketing campaign performance to identify key drivers of success and areas for optimisation.
  • Develop models to predict the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and optimise budget allocation.
  • Segment customers based on their responses to marketing campaigns to personalise messaging and offers.
  • Measure the ROI of marketing initiatives and provide data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Continuously research and evaluate new machine-learning techniques and tools.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with the data science team.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years experience as a Data Scientist and within a scaling organisation is a bonus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: Proven ability to apply statistical and machine-learning methods to solve real-world business problems.
  • Proficiency in Python and relevant data science libraries: Experience with scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy, and other data manipulation and modeling tools.
  • Experience with predictive modeling, ideally in a SaaS environment: Familiarity with different modeling techniques and metrics (e.g., AUC, precision, recall, F1-score).
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases: Ability to extract and manipulate data from various data sources.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills: Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Databricks, AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Databricks, Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.
  • Experience with marketing analytics tools and techniques is a plus.
